Today, millions of people have voted Greens with hope and ambition. We have secured the biggest national vote in our history. And together we have kicked Dutton out.

The polls are open!

How To Vote Greens
Positive change starts with voting for people who will work for you and what you believe in

This is it. Nothing changes if nothing changes. We can’t keep voting for the same two parties expecting different results. And if there’s one thing that the big corporations & billionaires don’t want you to know, it’s that change is possible. You just have to vote for it.

Change really is possible. In minority government, the Greens will push for dental into Medicare, a cap on rents, wiping all student debt and so much more. We can't keep voting for the same two parties and expecting change. This election, vote for it. Vote 1 Greens.

Coal and gas are fuelling the climate crisis. But in a single term, while Australia was hit by fires & floods, Labor approved over 30 new coal and gas projects. And Dutton wants more. The Greens will put climate action back on the agenda.

Today we mark ANZAC Day. We pay our respects to all those who have endured the horrors of war - and the many who still do today. We remind ourselves of the need to stop wars and prevent them from happening again. We recommit to strive for peace. Lest we forget.

Last year, the Greens secured the 'right to disconnect' for workers across the country. We fought for these laws because every worker should have the right to knock off when they clock off & not be forced to do any unpaid overtime. Peter Dutton wants to scrap these laws.

This is the major parties’ answer to the housing crisis. Housing affordability.. by the end of the century. The lengths they’ll go to keep giving $180 billion in tax handouts to wealthy property investors. Renters & first home buyers deserve better.

Labor has lit the fuse on a giant climate bomb, approving one of the world’s dirtiest gas projects that will emit hundreds of tonnes of pollution and put a safer climate out of reach.

The Greens are running in seats across the country — and today we confirm our how-to-vote cards will preference Labor ahead of the Liberals. Vote 1 Greens to keep Dutton out and get Labor to act on the cost of living, housing and climate crisis.

The Greens will always fight to improve workers rights, including protecting penalty rates. Read our ten standards for better workplace laws, including protecting penalty rates. 🔗 greens.org.au/sites/defaul...
A list of the Greens' ten standards for better workplace laws.

Workplace laws should:

1. Reduce inequality in society
2. Improve equal opportunity in the labour market
3. Ensure workers get equal pay and conditions for equal work
4. Ensure everyone has the right to decent work
5. Make jobs more secure
6. Give workers more bargaining power
7. Strengthen the rights of unions and workers
8. Give workers a voice about new technologies in the workplace
9. Not be undercut by international agreements
10. Improve wages and conditions in the care sector

Utterly heartbreaking that 19 women have been killed in Australia this year, including 3 this week. It shouldn't take another woman being killed for politicians to remember keeping women safe matters.

It’s not a leaders debate, it’s a group hug as they take us further into housing hell. Here’s a drinking game: have a shot every time they mention negative gearing reform, dental, stopping coal & gas or taxing big corporations. You'll stay sober as a judge.

In this cost-of-living crisis, trying to balance the home budget with a newborn has never been harder. That's why the Greens have announced our plan to double paid parental leave, at replacement wage. The status quo of 26 weeks at minimum wage is not enough.

No child should go to school hungry. That’s why the Greens will fund free school meals across the country. Paid for by making big corporations pay their fair share of tax.

Labor has done a dirty deal with the Liberals to not preference the Greens in Macnamara. This now risks the Liberals winning the seat, and bringing Dutton one step closer to the Lodge. Labor voters will be furious they are helping Dutton with preferences.

Renters need solar 🌞 Today the Greens are launching our plan to give the 7 million renters across the country the right to solar. Getting solar on your rental will help lower your power bill *and* emissions. It’s good for renters and good for the environment

Good. Working from home allows more people, especially women, to manage work alongside caring & other responsibilities. Today Dutton has dropped one attack on your rights at work, next he must drop his plan to repeal the right to disconnect, which protects your out-of-work hours

In a wealthy country like ours everyone should be able to afford childcare, but too many families are struggling with the cost. The Greens have a comprehensive plan to fix it. We will provide free, universal, high-quality early education for every child.

Dental into Medicare: it just makes sense. Under the Greens plan, you’d save over $900 a year. That’s good for your teeth and good for the hip-pocket. And we’d fund it by taxing the excessive profits of big corporations. That’s plenty to smile about.

The Battle of the Band-Aids. 1 in 3 people don’t vote for either of them, so why are these ‘debates’ between two leaders who both defend a status quo of unlimited rent rises, big corporations paying no tax & opening new coal and gas mines?

I’m proud to launch ‘Green Australia’: our plan to protect nature & wildlife. For decades, governments have put the profits of polluters before our environment. But the Greens will double investment in nature, and do it by making big corporations pay their fair share in tax.

Greens pressure works! After adopting most of our plan to see the GP for free, Labor has now followed the Greens’ plan to make supermarket price gouging illegal.

The Prime Minister should not be inviting Trump to Australia. Trump is a danger to peace and a danger to democracy. He emboldens hate and hard-right ideology. We should be rethinking our relationship with Trump's US, not sucking up to him.

This budget was a missed opportunity to get dental into Medicare. To make the big corporations pay their fair share of tax. Instead of focusing on cost-of-living relief, Labor used the cover of the budget to do a deal with Dutton to gut our environment laws.

Adam Bandt @adambandt.bsky.social · 25/03/2025
In this last week of Parliament, Labor could be working with the Greens to wipe student debt, make GPs free, and put dental into Medicare. Instead, they're working with Dutton to gut our environment laws. In a cost of living crisis, Labor's priority is to send a species extinct.

Adam Bandt @adambandt.bsky.social · 20/03/2025
There’s one week of Parl left. I’ve written to the PM offering support to pass laws to cut student debt, see GP for free & get dental into Medicare, Dutton-proofing these measures. But Lab & Lib want to gut enviro laws instead, with a bill Gov’s keeping secret. Show us the bill, PM.

This is cruel. In my electorate the Vic Labor Government is demolishing public housing and selling off homes that house families in their time of need, when they're far from home helping care for family members in hospital. We’re in a housing crisis & Labor is making things worse.
News article headline that reads: Hospital patients lose free family accommodation for new apartments.

In the last ever week of this Parliament, instead of passing laws to see the GP for free or lock in cheaper medicines, Labor's working with Dutton to gut our environment laws.

Today the Greens have launched our plan to help households & businesses electrify and get off gas. By giving people financial assistance to go electric, we can reduce emissions and bring down energy bills. This election the Greens will keep Dutton out and get Labor to act.
Excerpt from an Australian Financial Review article about the Greens' new policy which reads: Australian consumers could soon have access to generous federal subsidies to install home batteries and remove gas connections after the Greens said they would put $8 billion in new household electrification measures on the negotiating table in any future balance-of-power discussions.

Under the Greens’ proposal, households looking to replace their gas appliances with electric alternatives would be able to access up to $10,000 in grants and $20,000 in low-interest loans, with similar incentives available to meet the high up-front costs of home battery installation.

Netanyahu's decision to resume airstrikes on Gaza is horrific. More than 400 people have been killed already. Australia needs to move from words to action, and put pressure on Netanyahu's extremist government to stop the genocide.

The Greens will pave the way for a 4-day work week. That’s less hours, same pay. For too long productivity gains have resulted in profits for bosses & shareholders while workers burn out. With successful trials across the world, it’s time we follow suit here.

It's crystal clear that Trump is a danger. He does not have Australia’s back. Harsh words then business as usual are not enough from us. It is time to cancel AUKUS and start acting in our country's own interests.

Confirmation of our worst fears: no public housing will be rebuilt in Flemington or North Melbourne. In the middle of a housing crisis, Labor is bulldozing public housing & handing public land over to developers, tearing communities apart & making the crisis worse.

Voters in Wills are powerful. If just one in ten people shift their votes this election, they can elect @samantharatnam.bsky.social as their local Greens member. With more Greens in Parliament we can build affordable housing, stop new coal and gas, and get dental & mental into Medicare.

Polls are open in Western Australia and it's time to take on the interests of big corporations. With more Greens MPs in WA Parliament, we’ll tackle the cost of living, housing & climate crises - and make big corporations pay their fair share of tax.

Labor has adopted a big part of the Greens plan for GP for free. This joins a growing list of outcomes demonstrating that Greens pressure works. But we shouldn't wait until after the election to implement this - Parliament is still sitting, so let's get this done now.

Adam Bandt @adambandt.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
It's good Labor has adopted part of our plan to help people see the GP for free, now let's make it law before the election. The PM should recall Parliament this week to legislate & Dutton-proof this policy. Then next Parliament we can keep Dutton out & get dental into Medicare.

👀 There are reports Labor may adopt the Greens 'GP for free' plan tomorrow! I hope they do: it will make a huge difference for people struggling to afford healthcare. Pressure works. This is what voting Greens delivers: we keep Dutton out and get Labor to act.

878 million tonnes of emissions, fuelling the climate crisis. That's what the Labor Government has given the greenlight to as the Scarborough Gas project gets approved. Make no mistake: this is a climate crime.

The first few years out of school shouldn’t be this hard. But with rents, education fees, and the cost of living all rising, I know too many young people are finding further study impossible. You deserve more support. With minority Government likely, the Greens will fight for it.

In a cost of living & climate crisis, you shouldn't have to struggle with rising insurance premiums. Today we've announced the Greens plan to make insurances cheaper & make fossil fuel companies pay, putting over $4 bill dollars back in the pockets of people across the country.

This is extraordinary. After rushing electoral reforms through the Senate last night, Labor & the Liberals have teamed again this morning to gag debate. This is the political duopoly at work. Silencing the entire crossbench to protect their power. They haven't learnt a thing.

This time last year, the Greens won workers the right to disconnect. Since the laws came into effect in August, the rate of unpaid overtime has fallen 33%. That’s 2 hours that the average worker has back in their week for whatever they choose. That’s massive.
