I think you probably made the right decision anyway. Its a beast as a dedicated 3D printer. Get a laser machine if you want a laser machine.

Most companies will want to control something that they're paying for and keep it secret to have a hold on the market. On that basis I think it's unlikely to happen.

Well i think the most obvious is that you arent going to be printing large ABS things on a mini. It won't fit and will warp.

I'm not sure on 48v, I don't think it is. Klipper doesn't support esp 32 afaik. It's not really a 3d printer focused product imo. Great for automation projects though.

Having a great time printing with @cookiecad.com PLA (which you can now get easily in the UK from @adam-v3d.bsky.social). I’ve had real difficulty with some silk and shiny filaments previously but this prints like a dream.

I think it's one of those things where until you really get into the nitty gritty details of all their parameters and limitations some of the decisions are hard to understand.

I guess it's about prioritising and optimising for the specific mission. They presumably worked out they can't sample and return in one go, so the mission has to be split at some point. I assume any form of picking up requires additional equipment not currently on the rover, maybe weight is a factor
