Reagan would have won and been re-elected because the reactionary backlash was that strong. Iran-Contra would have happened too, but appropriate consequences would have established a pattern.

100% agree. Watergate led to Iran Contra which led to Abu Ghraib which led to Trump. Clinton suffered more for the Lewinsky scandal than Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Bush, and Trump suffered for treason, torture, and mass murder. [Clinton is a gross sex pest and should have resigned.]

When someone says Trump and his cronies should be arrested on January 20 2029, they should specify what they'd be charged with. I'm not a lawyer and I have no idea what Vance or Noem or anyone else could be arrested for besides treason or murder. This has become one of my niche pet peeves.

Perhaps, but McCarthy was censured by his peers, became totally irrelevant and then drank himself to death. Nixon lived free and died in his 80s. From there we got Iran Contra, Bush v. Gore, Iraq, Abu Ghraib, and January 6. There's no personal responsibility for Republicans.

I don't think the men who wrote the Constitution imagined there would be politicians without any sense of personal honor or dignity. Now an entire party is made up of pathetic, whiny, cowards who won't stand up to anyone or take the slightest personal or professional risk.
