Piece by piece. Now, the main building can start attached to a lower level and end on a ground pillar. The more specific the connecting tiles I make, the more complex the configuration becomes. This dramatically increases both the possibilities and the intricacy of the building system.

3D OpenGL / OF render of a brutalist architecture building generated via Wave Function Collapse. Lights baked in custom OF engine.

Some improvement on the WFC configuration. Now the main building can stand both on ground pillars and on top of the lower levels. Next step: allow a section of the main building to transition from resting over ground pillars to continue extending across lower levels.

The landscape is a standalone island raised above water, shaped by an urban footprint of 2D shapes defining buildings and parks. The layout was packed using 2D physics, while the island's extrusion and tessellation were manually crafted via custom mesh generation

This time I have focused on developing a custom tile editor and debug tool that helped find configuration issues and visualize the links and rules between the tiles and its symmetries.

Out of the blue, I decided to take up again an abandoned project from 6 years ago. This openFrameworks project combines 2 of the addons I created back then (ofxGPULightmapper & ofxWFC3D) into a generative brutalist landscape. [WIP]

This was such a nice closing evening. The room was cold, the sky was dark and the ambiance... moody. The candles brought some warmth into the walls of this abandoned house in Berlin. A perfect scenario for the incredible sound landscape my friend Mei composed for this collaborative installation.

One of the reasons for traveling back to Chengdu this Spring Festival, was to finally have this dreamed photoshoot with the amazing Lixiang

150

Nuño de la Serna @action-io.com · 25/01/2025

Then I protected the patterns on the wall, carefully checking the scale and I traced them on paper.

010

Nuño de la Serna @action-io.com · 25/01/2025

Initially I did a simulation to test different designs and I generated patterns using @blender.org The plan was to achieve an inflatable isolation chamber that deploys around the audience without having to open and close a gate for people to come inside.

230

Nuño de la Serna @action-io.com · 25/01/2025

The construction of the installation has been carried out using only plastic waste materials, such as bags and food packaging wrapping films. The isolation chamber has been built by melting the plastics together, omitting the use of adhesive tape or glue. Electronics were repurposed from other works

020

Nuño de la Serna @action-io.com · 25/01/2025

It draws correlative lines between climate change, the covid pandemic, and its long-term health consequences. The isolation chamber invites its guests to self-reflect and to raise awareness about climate problems by comparing it to a crisis from which we are already experiencing its consequences.
