Our organisers Kate and Ariel trained the Trussell team on transformative community organising and how to use data to build power. They loved spending time with Trussell thinking about the future of their organising and how they build on the wins food bank organisers have already achieved.

For nearly 50 years, Saathi House has supported women, young people & migrant communities across the city through education, wellbeing, leadership and community action. In the workshop they shared wanting to see change around mental health services, housing, cost of living, and access to education.

Trussell was also a significant part of the campaign to end the two-child benefit cap, a win which will bring 470,000 children out of severe hardship. Both of these campaigns progress their goal of ending the need for food banks in the UK.

In June, Trussell brought +500 people from across the UK to Westminster for a lobby day where they called on MPs to support an Essentials Guarantee  – where the basic rate of Universal Credit covers essential costs of living such as food, household bills and travel, and can't be pulled below that.

Earlier this month, our team met in York for a day of strategy. This work will form our direction for years ahead and we will share more with you later this year. We also went on a Ghost Tour in city centre with team members reporting spooky events later that evening 👻.

You have probably seen their recent partnership with @lush, where their Words Matter campaign was featured in every Lush store in the UK. 🏠 Supported the creation of the Not A Stranger coalition - a migrant-led campaigning group established in June 2025 in response to the UK Government’s Immigration White Paper proposal. In collaboration with NAS, MRN conducted a survey to understand migrants’ perspectives on the proposed changes.

In 2025, MDP attended political party conferences and held a roundtable event at Westminster campaigning for Votes for All. Five councils passed their motion along with 26 MPs signing their Early Day Motion in Parliament.

With Connecting for Good, Grapevine has seen success with their Need The Loo campaign working for improved access to clean and dignified public toilets in Coventry. Coventry Council have added new signs across the city to support people to find toilets, but the campaign continues in 2026!
