My husband works for one of the nation's largest non-profit hospital system. I texted him this JAMA article 15 minutes before his town hall today, where they announced they're bringing in Deloitte 🙃. It's their 3rd reorg in 4 years.

Recently publiyJAMA article showing hiring of management consultants by non-profit hospitals does not improve finances, operational metrics or patience outcomes.

For nurses especially, who often are responding immediately and don't have time to consult AI, this feels especially troubling? My labor and delivery nurses were incredible and knew so much, I can't imagine what that experience would be like if they'd checked ChatGpt every time my labor stalled.

The teen who works on my farm is getting her associates degree in a program with many nursing students. Apparently her peers are using chatGPT for all their homework and exams, which are mainly done online. I'm deeply concerned about how this affects care in a few years.

At a recent protest, the local TP chapter showed up to interview people but wouldn't say who they were w/, so people thought they were giving interviews to legit media. Husb & I spent two hours following them around, singing "This Little Light Of Mine" and ruining their audio. 10/10 recommend.

My former colleagues are working at OpenAI, Anthropic, CoreWeave. These are places with really high paying jobs that I have a personal "in" at. And yet, I just can't bring myself to help these companies.
