Pulp slay Washington DC on the second night of their North American tour. A stacked setlist, lots of laughter and an abundance of love for the band.

Here's the very fabulous “Cocker's Luck” drawn by Jamie Hewlett. First published by Time Out on this day in 1998. "Rocker Cocker In Feline Fellatio Shocker!" is worthy of being a Hardcore-era Pulp lyric.

On the eve of Pulp’s summer tour I’m excited to share this brand new interview with Candida Doyle. We talked about Candida’s role in the new Pulp album and how this tour will be Pulp’s biggest and most ambitious yet. madeincatcliffe.wordpress.com/2025/06/06/c...

On this day in 1994 Pulp performed at Leicester University Queen’s Hall. One reviewer wrote: “The highlight of the evening came with new track ‘His N Hers’, during which Jarvis handed his microphone around the crowd, asking ‘What frightens you?’ Answers ranged from ‘rejection’ to ‘Depeche Mode’”.

Pulp’s Common People was first played by John Peel on this day in 1995. To mark this 30th anniversary I’ve charted the airplay that each of the four Different Class singles gained on UK radio during 1995-96.

Stopped by the ‘For Your Pleasure’ exhibition at Liverpool’s Open Eye Gallery to admire these Donald Milne portraits. I can’t tell whether I admire Jarvis’ pose, his shirt fabric or the carpet pattern the most. They’re on display until 9 March.

On this day in 1995 the NME’s annual Brat Awards ceremony took place in London. These are the categories that Pulp featured in. Pulp didn’t win any awards (boo!) but I doubt they cared because they’d just finished recording an exciting new song called Common People.
NME cover following the 1995 Brat Awards. Included are Damon Albarn, Noel Gallagher and Martin Rossiter. Best Band, as voted for by NME readers. Pulp in 7th place.

So pleased to have salvaged these pop icons for repair and preservation earlier today. They're dusty, discoloured and in need of TLC, but l'd love to take them around the UK next summer to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the album that changed my life (and no doubt your lives too) #pulp

On this day in 1994 Pulp performed for their fan club members at the Theatre Royal in London. This special Christmas show was memorable both for the range of songs played and for the enthusiastic fans whose dancing caused cracks to appear in the theatre’s balcony. Photo by Steve Hall.

Miranda Sawyer was a brilliant host for this evening’s Mark Webber book launch. Favourite moment: seeing the sleeping bag that Mark used when Pulp performed at Glastonbury ‘95!
