Another school shooting today in the United States. Let me guess, now isn't a time to talk about gun control, it's time for thoughts and prayers until the next school shooting.

It's bad enough Trump and his administration have been caught interfering in Canadian separatist movements, now these very same people accuse Canada for the very same behaviour.

This is what you get when you place ALL your eggs into the same AI basket. This company's name is UniUni. You can only get a person if their AI decides to let you through. My last delivery they just said the recipient declined even though someone sat outside waiting for them all morning.

I can't complain about getting stuff off AliExpress that I can't buy in North America from where I am now. On the east coast it would take 4-6 weeks and at times longer. Where I am now takes days up to a week. Also paying way less to no customs charges here as well.

I keep hearing from some Americans I know, it's very concerning to hear how many people have lost their part D medical coverage. The only option they have is to go off all the drugs that part D covered. Also, no person should have to ration insulin. Insulin was invented over 100 years ago in Canada.

And yes I do understand both sides, it is why 78% of Americans currently disapprove of congress. About as much as Canada approves of what the US is doing.

Been meaning to say this for awhile now, I guess Trump deciding to blame all his failures on Canada was the limit for me. A pathological liar attacking Canada every chance he gets. Trump is so damned stupid that he doesn't even have the smarts to be a village idiot. Yet here he is as president.

Since Trump is forcing things down voter's throats, I also believe that voting should be made mandatory for every eligible voter. There is just way too many Americans that don't vote, but it is geared that way. The world is totally demoralized that as bad as Trump is, he was voted in TWICE!

I believe Americans have lived long enough without universal healthcare. I believe minimum wage in the US is a joke, needs to be at least 3X higher. I believe contributions to parties should be severely limited. I also think what the republican party and Trump is doing to the US is treasonous.

If you what to know how Collins operates, during Trump's entire first term she was totally disgusted with what Trump was doing. As much as she was against his policies, her record shows when under pressure, she collapsed like a deck of card and voted for Trump policies, another career politician.

Susan Collins of Maine in 1996 during a campaign event said she would serve a total of 2 terms. She is currently serving out her fifth term! So much for promises made, promises kept. Her personal worth is between 3.93-9.6 million dollars, oh boy another millionaire representing the little people.

Look at Collins in Maine, she's like a bowl of mashed potatoes, useless! She wants the trade war to end, she wants things to go back to the way they were. This is all on Trump but you know how republicans are at blaming him. Even the ones distancing themselves will return to Trump after the midterms

I don't get American businesses, especially ones at the border. Canadians aren't going to the US like they were. Meanwhile those businesses go on TV saying that we are their friends & we shouldn't be hurting friends. What about all the jobs Canada have lost? They don't seem to give a shit about them

The whole thing just depresses me, I honestly was one of those believers in Canada and the US being close allies, in fact closer than we were. For Americans that didn't want or vote for this, Canada is in the same boat as you along with feeling totally betrayed by the United States. *Sigh*

Alberta is a wet dream to republicans, imagine 140 years of oil reserves. Quebec is another one, there are all sorts of metals, especially aluminium and rare earth minerals. As America loves its polls, I see that republican resentment towards Canada is going up, sheep the whole lot of them!

In the last couple of days the republicans are now threatening Canada to not undermine US Midterms. Its rich coming from the republicans who plan to do what they accuse Canada of doing. The US has been caught trying to encourage the Canadian provinces of Alberta & Quebec to separate from Canada.

The worst thin is that the US is on the fast track to completely losing it's democracy. Meanwhile Canada is fighting to keep it's country and democracy alive. For a country that likes to talk about freedom/democracy/constitution, the US has no problem undermining the democracies of other countries.

It's utter madness Trump slapped tariffs on Canada first, hurting Canadian businesses and Canada hit back tariffs as a response and it is US politicians whining how unfair Canada is being. You know what Canada wants? To honor the trade deal Trump agreed to, and to end all the tariffs he slapped on.

The republicans are dead silent showing they care about the future of Canada as a trading partner as much as they are selling out the US. Meanwhile the democrats are beginning to cry about how unfair that Canada is fighting back and hurting US businesses. It wasn't Canada that started this!

Look at the oil disaster Trump created. Countries across the world are having to deal with the oil shortage. Asia and Europe want every last drop and are willing to pay more, would you stick around taking abuse from the US and give a fat discount for no reason? The US will be at the end of the line.
010 1
acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
In short, Canada offered the US discounts because exports were landlocked. Trump thinks what he is doing will drive Canada to desperation, it's not. International buyers want all Canada has to offer and they are willing to pay the full market price, well above what the US currently pays.
000 0
acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The US, for being "neighbours", already gets huge discounts on oil, potash, and electricity from Canada. What's changing, however, is Canada has growing options to transport across Canada to the ports on either coast. The US is no longer the only buyer, international buyers wish to pay market price.
011 1
acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The US gets 80% of its potash from Canada. There is no other place on earth you can get it. On the same day Belarus said they had no potash to sell them and they couldn't sell to the US even if they wanted to. So Trump almost screwed US Trump farmers from the only source of potash for them.
011 1
acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
You can see this in the potash disaster Trump created for the US. Trump went on social media to declare Canadian potash to be expensive and Canada is taking advantage, and the US would get it from Belarus. It was nothing more than a lie to get Canada to panic and agree to an even lower price.

acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
So even if Canada agreed to another trade deal, Trump's word means nothing, he can just declare another national security threat from Canada and then use his "powers" to tear it up. Trump also has not given up on his annexation plan as he continues trying to attack every other sector of our economy.

acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I'm pretty sure if Canada made these demands of the US, that any sane American would agree that those demands are unfair and unrealistic. Yet here Canada is. On top of that, you have to remember that Trump has it stuck in his soggy brain that he will eventually annex Canada~
010 1
acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Another Nutlick demand was that we would no longer be in control of our own resources, we would have to agree to give first dibs on everything including rare earth minerals. Canada would also have to agree to the same stupid Trump tariff scheme. Don't forget that Trump's plan is to annex Canada.

One of the major demands would be like demanding the US end Spanish as a language that having to put Spanish on labels was hurting Canadian businesses, that all Spanish language protections be stripped. Another was Canada would have to ask the US for approval for any trade deals.

acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Canada was so close to a new trade deal with the US to the point Trump was already online CONSTANTLY mentioning how close things were. Trump was even parting himself on the back. Nutlick stepped in on the 11th hour and added a bunch of demands thar would efficiently end Canada as a country.

Canada has a free trade agreement which Trump negotiated in his first term. When Trump was elected again, he decided to not honour the agreement and do as he pleases. What is the point in negotiating a new trade agreement where Canada agrees to sign most of the country over to the United States.

Why in the world would Canadians agree to stop having an auto industry, or let the US dictate what cars it can or cannot sell? On top of that, Canada wants to buy BYD EVs. Since then the US government has not shut up how they disapprove, yet flip on the TV & Trump rolls the red carper out to China.

acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
One of Trump's dumbest examples is the auto industry. Try to figure out mush for brains actual plan. For many decades now, Canada and the US had a seamless auto industry. Trump wants Canada to cease manufacturing cars, the auto industry to move to the US, and to continue buying American cars.

The US has an economy 13X larger and a population 10X larger, to blame Canada just shows what a pathetic loser Trump is. He isn't interested at all about trade with Canada. He just wants to declare he won and Canada lost and he will drive both economies into the ground to accomplish it.
000 0
acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Trump is seeking to blame Canada for the midterms. What Trump doesn't like is he doesn't get anything out of a free trade agreement. So being the weakling that he is, it's always going to be someone else's fault. Not that the midterm results showing that he hasn't kept a single promise to voters.

acrufox.bsky.social @acrufox.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
What's worse than hearing about Trump every single day is also having Trump constantly bullying Canada on top. Trump's likes tariffs so much because he gets bribes under the table from countries seeking a lower rate. Canada's sees this and recognizes it as a bribe, something Canada refuses to pay.

The only major difference I've noticed is people don't seem as friendly as back in NS, like people actively avoid interacting with each other. A mind your own business approach. So it's been kinda hard here to make friends. For some reason don't have the problem of friending ppl twice my age.

People who visited NS fall in love with it only see the place during the tourist season. These winters of up to 10 feet of snow are soul crushing and the weather it just drags on. Just over half the year the weather is cold and damp, the first 1-2 feet of snow is nice, 10ft has you on the roof!

I honestly didn't think it was 97% cheaper for those two bills, I thought maybe 50% more? Nearly twice that! O_O also, I've checked every week since we left, NS has higher gas prices for all 52 weeks. So now more money has facilitated a move, quite literally, into middle middle class, nearby upper.

So having been able to escape NS & not a penny more in money, I've added $1,500 to the budget! When you live in NS you live as poor as everything is so expensive. Living without winter is awesome! In NS by Nov, that's it, cold and raw until well into May. Here it just goes late fall to early spring.

I've always been fully aware of the local brainwashing to get the locals to never question if "away" was better. You come across these people and they will swear by NS! But follow up with asking where else have you lived? Always getting back they have have never lived outside the province.

So sold the house at the right time, and moved to where hydro powers the electricity around here. Now the numbers *drumroll* $1,000/mo heating + Electricity $150=$1,150. Since hydro makes for cheap electricity, many places include heat. Went from $1,150/mo for power/heat to $37 a reduction of 97%!!!

I guess selling the family home and moving to a much warmer province all happened at just the right time. House sold for the highest it could get right before prices started coming down. The house was heated by oil, if you filled your tank every month, around $1200, now it's closer to $2,400~

Many fisherman were not prepared in what they found, it quickly turning into a recovery operation. I will never forget some of the things those fisherman experienced out there that night. It was so heartbreaking to hear their stories. (One story in particular that kind of haunts me to this day.

The crash of Swissair 111 is stuck in my mind as much as where I was and what I was doing on Sept 11th. I don't think even the local news knew how to handle it. Everything was unfiltered. Local fisherman in the area deployed to try to search for survivors, many came home needing years of therapy.

Nothing ever happens in Nova Scotia, so something like that was extremely out of the ordinary, so it wasn't until I flipped between the local news stations that confirmed what had happened. I watched all night long right into the next morning.

The person that I streamed to was the same person, who 3 years previous, Sept 2nd, 1998 had done the reverse for me. I remember that evening I was watching some cartoons. He asked me if I was aware of Swissair Flight 111 crashing off the coast of NS near Peggy's cove. I didn't believe him.

She then went on to say how "creeped out" she felt, that she had this feeling of uneasiness and just wanted to get out of the building. We all listened to her describe what it was like inside the building. The award she was there to accept was for where we all worked, a non for profit organization.

The next day I was called into work to service their computers. I went in and I didn't seem to get anything accomplished. Everyone in the office wanted to talk about what happened the day before. One of my coworkers told the story of going in and up the World Trade Center to accept an award.
