Mechanisms: effects are stronger when the quote-tweeter is a highly cited scholar, and stronger for candidates from top institutions. Reputation is doing real work - it's not just being seen, it's WHO signals you're worth seeing

But views are cheap. Did this translate to better job market outcomes? YES. - Treated candidates got 1 more flyout (vs control mean of 5.4) - Women in treatment got 0.9 more offers (vs control mean of 3) That's a ~30% bump in offers for women 👀

Field experiment by @acohn.bsky.social & Stoop suggests a relatively high willingness among online workers to engage in unethical tasks, with the ethical compromise in the unethical task having a similar impact on job acceptance as a 25% wage reduction: buff.ly/49M1CWC
