Pisa win shows Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s value at Milan
In January, there were increasing doubts about the future of Ruben Lotus-Cheek at Milan. Aston Villa attempted to bring him back to England and at a point, it seemed like his exit could go through. Fortunately for Max Allegri’s side, it did not. With a new contract on the way, the Englishman showed his value […]

Going all out for Jean-Philippe Mateta makes sense for Milan
At one point last week, it seemed like Milan would definitely sign Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace. They seemed to have beaten Nottingham Forest in the race, as an agreement was reached with the Eagles and the Frenchman. The 28-year-old appeared very keen on the transfer, with Juventus having previously failed to seal a deal. […]

Wins over Como and Lecce showcase Milan’s resiliency and title potential
It is fair to suggest that Lecce and Como were completely contrasting challenges for Milan. One posed the threat of completely outplaying them on the pitch and the other nearly left the Rossoneri frustrated until the goal actually came. All that matters though, is the result. Milan took six points from the two ties, even […]

Why Milan should consider parting ways with Youssouf Fofana in January
Youssouf Fofana’s time at Milan began with flying colours last season. The Rossoneri put in quite a bit of effort to land the Frenchman from Monaco, even beating Premier League competition to bring him to the San Siro. It is fair to say that Davide Bartesaghi has been one of the shining lights for Milan in the last few weeks. Even if Milan are top of Serie A, Max Allegri’s side have obvious striker worries. AC Milan Comeback To Beat Como 2-1 As Reijnders Shines With Goal and Assist
Photo by MB Media/Getty Images Conceicao’s side get back to back wins as the side have some positivity heading into the break, AC Milan pulled off another comeback win for the second week in a row as the beat Como 2-1 at the San Siro amidst jeers and whistles from the fans and an ongoing protest by the Curva Sud as the side remain out of all the European places. Milan missed some big chances and went behind from a insane finish from Da Cunha from outside the box into the corner. Yunus Musah had a shocking game - worse than usual - as he missed a golden chance, an open goal after beating the keeper and was as haphazard as ever with his passing. He was withdrawn in the second half but it is surprising Sergio Conceicao keeps starting him over Youssuf Fofana and now Warren Bondo. Milan’s two stars of the season Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders stepped up to bail out the side yet again. Pulisic opened the scoring after Reijnders curled a through ball and the American fired a wild shot in the back post to equalise. Reijnders would score the winner with a curler at the near post after being played in by Tammy Abaraham. Reijnders was overall the best player in this game with some incredible through balls to Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao as well as clipping the crossbar with a curling shot. Milan have two positive results on the trot ahead of the international break. When the football returns at the end of the month, Milan have 7 games in 28 days including two derbies in the Coppa Italia.

AC Milan Finally Get A Win In Serie A As Pulisic Double Helps Clear Lecce 3-2
Photo by Gabriele Maricchiolo/NurPhoto via Getty Images Milan get a win after three consecutive losses but had to grind and comeback from two down. AC Milan fought for their lives on the road against Lecce to come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 with a strong second half display to provide Sergio Conceicao with some respite. Christian Pulisic got back to his scoring a match winning brace. Milan were unfortunate in the first half as Santiago Jimenez and Matteo Gabbia scored goals which were ruled offside. Jimenez would also hit the post in the second half. Krstovic wrecked our defence and beat Mike Maignan twice in the 7th and 59th minute to stun the Rossoneri. A number of changes at the break and after halftime made the difference. Rafael Leao in particular changed the game as he delivered the cross which forced the own goal after Joao Felix’s mis-shot. He also delivered a stunning cross at the back post for Pulisic’s tap in for the winner. Pulisic also won and scored a penalty in the middle for the equaliser to cap off an important win despite the Rossoneri falling off the European spots.

AC Milan Drop Points As Errors Define Match Against Cagliari
Photo by Claudio Villa/AC Milan via Getty Images The Rossoneri are in a tight spot as they have three draws in a row in the league and cannot afford more dropped points. AC Milan opened their new year in Serie A with an uninspiring 1-1 draw against Cagliari. Sergio Conceicao quickly got a taste of the challenging nature of league football in Italy after two big wins against Juventus and Inter Milan in the Supercoppa in Riyadh. The Rossoneri struggled in the first half with sloppy passing and mistimed runs. The chances were few and far apart with little threat to an in form keeper. Milan finally found the opener at the 50th minute as a shot from Christian Pulisic was saved onto the post by the keeper and Alvaro Morata pounced to score the rebound. The goal was short-lived and the lead was lost just five minutes later as Milan were caught out by Zortea yet again. Mike Maignan fumbled the save and the bumbling long shot rolled in. The game stalled at 1-1 and Milan struggled to get into dangerous positions. Tammy Abraham came on but missed two clear cut chances both on-on-one with the keeper. Milan are 8 points off the UCL places and 4 points outside of European spots altogether.

AC Milan Lift The Supercoppa After Defeating Inter 3-2 In Insane Derby Comeback
Photo by FADEL SENNA/AFP via Getty Images A big win for the new manager and an opportunity for the squad to build and turn the season around! AC Milan have picked up some silverware in an incredible comeback victory in the derby against Inter Milan in Riyadh. Sergio Conceicao’s side came from two goals down to win 3-2 at the death and lifted the Supercoppa Italiana for the first time since Vincenzo Montella’s side in 2016/17. Inter opened the scoring right at the end of the first half as Emerson Royal stopped chasing the ball allowing a quick transition which allowed Lautaro Martinez to find space in the box to score. The opening of the second half saw a long ball split open our defence before Mehdi Taremi slotted past Mike Maignan to give them a two goals down lead. Milan began their comeback will a sleek free kick from Theo Hernandez curling a low shot past the wall. Milan would equalise through a gritty Christian Pulisic goal as he fought for the ball on the box connecting with Hernandez cross. The icing on the cake came just minutes away from the end as a brilliant counter saw Rafael Leao square the ball for Tammy Abraham to tap in leaving Inter in disarray. Milan win their 8th Supercoppa Italiana and Sergio Conceicao wins silverware after just two games in charge.

AC Milan Beat Juventus 2-1 As Musah Forces The Winner In The Supercoppa
Photo by FAYEZ NURELDINE/AFP via Getty Images A statement win for the new manager but the game play was not yet up to par. AC Milan are off to a gritty and positive start under Sergio Conceicao with an important 2-1 victory over Juventus in the semi final of the Coppa Italia in Riyadh. It was a tale of two halves as the Rossoneri looked horrid for the first 45 minutes but really turned it around after the break with some positive play. Milan went behind early as Yildiz collected a through ball which Theo Hernandez misjudged and allowed the youngster to smash past Mike Maignan. The Rossoneri had two big moments after the 70th minute and managed to score twice in five minutes completely turning the game around and switching the momentum. Christian Pulisic cleverly drew a penalty and converted it with confidence to equalise. Yunus Musah managed to snag the winner as he forced an own goal off Gatti with a bursting run up the right side and his cross was deflected past an advancing Di Gregorio and curled into the far bottom corner. Milan proceed to the final to face Inter Milan in a derby to decide the Supercoppa Italiana on the 6th of January.

Official: AC Milan Fire Paulo Fonseca After Just Six Months
Photo by Claudio Villa/AC Milan via Getty Images The manager lasts 182 days with just a 50% win rate. AC Milan have officially announced on their website the sacking of manager Paulo Fonseca after just three months. The Portuguese coach failed to make an impact in Milan and will be sent packing as the fans protests have grown against the club. Fonseca lasted just six months at the helm of AC Milan. In that time, he managed 24 games across all competitions with 12 wins, 6 draws and 6 losses. He has a win percentage of 50%. He did not manage to surpass nor match the performances of his predecessor Stefano Pioli and now throws Milan into another spell of messiness and uncertainty. Milan sit in 8th place in Serie A and 12th place in the UEFA Champions League which are both below par and have a quarter finals spot in the Coppa Italia. His achievements are a 2-1 victory over Inter Milan in the derby, a 3-1 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League and a big 6-1 win over Sassuolo in the cup. The Rossoneri signed him on a 3 year deal so will still have him on the books for another two and a half years unless he is hired elsewhere.

AC Milan Drop Points Against AS Roma But Reijnders and Fofana Shine Yet Again
Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images The Rossoneri are slipping further out of reach of the top four and the new manager has an enormous task. AC Milan ended the year with a whimper in a 1-1 draw against AS Roma at the San Siro. The Rossoneri are now 8 points off the Champions League places but have a game in hand. Tijjani Reijnders scored the opener with a tidy side footed finish after Youssuf Fofana provided the assist yet again off the back of a well built up attack. The midfielder is the top scorer for the Rossoneri across all competitions with 9 goals. Paulo Dybala equalised for Roma just minutes later with a volley after the Rossoneri defence was sliced open. The game went a little crazy after Milan were denied a clear penalty and the players lost their heads. Paulo Fonseca was sent off in what has now become his final moment on the bench at the San Siro. Theo Hernandez and Alvaro Morata were booked too. The big news was the return of Ismael Bennacer after four months out but yet another injury as Samuel Chukwueze came off with a muscle issue. The second half was drab with neither side looking very dangerous and the game ended 1-1.

AC Milan Host AS Roma In Final Fixture of the Year As Theo Hernandez Is Back
Photo by Giuseppe Cottini/AC Milan via Getty Images Milan are out of the European places and cannot afford to lose more points. AC Milan play their final game of the calendar year against AS Roma at the San Siro as the fanbase is desperate to see a turnaround in the fortunes of the club. There is a lot of anger with the management and dismay at the players. The team will have to deal with a number of major injuries to key starters especially in attack. The big news will be the return of Theo Hernandez to the starting line up after a couple of weeks of exclusion. The huge miss is Rafael Leao who picked up an injury and will force Paulo Fonseca to deploy Alejandro Jimenez further up the field. Tijjani Reijnders will play as the trequartista for the second game running while Filippo Terracciano slots into the midfield also playing out of position. The game will be a patchwork affair. Milan are 8th and Roma are 11th with 7 points between them. **Expected Line Up (4-2-3-1):** Maignan; Royal, Gabbia, Thiaw, Hernandez; Fofana, Terracciano; Chukwueze, Reijnders, Jimenez; Morata.

AC Milan Play Out An Ugly 0-0 Draw with Genoa Muting 125th Anniversary Celebrations
Photo by Claudio Villa/AC Milan via Getty Images The Rossoneri failed and are breaking the will of the fans, one too many dropped points. AC Milan celebrated their 125th anniversary in a terrible manner this weekend. Despite all the pomp, there results on the pitch showed how far the Rossoneri have fallen over the past decade and especially in this current unambitious moment. The fans were treated to a dull, disappointing 0-0 against Genoa with barely any chances. The entire attack was drab and barely strung together anything to threaten the opposition. Paulo Fonseca’s poor tactics and lack of quality players were there for all to see as the draw practically ensures Milan are out of the Scudetto race but will struggle to even get a spot in the Champions League as they currently sit in a lowly eighth place. Alvaro Morata wasted at least three golden opportunities in the second half while Tammy Abraham barely tested Genoa in the first half. Francesco Camarda tried a little too hard and rushed his chances for the final thirty minutes. The biggest news will be the protests of the Curva Sud against the current ownership of Gerry Cardinale and co, the whistles at Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the boos at the players after the final whistle. The fans are outraged by the current position and something needs to change.

AC Milan Narrowly Beat Crvena Zvezda As Abraham Bails Out Fonseca
Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images The Rossoneri get lucky late on but the football is not great raising concerns for the rest of the season. AC Milan managed to scrape all three points against Crvena Zvezda in a gruelling fixture at the San Siro where the Rossoneri were stuffed out by the Serbian champions. Milan managed to get a 2-1 win late on. Rafael Leao opened the scoring with a lovely finish as he connected with Youssuf Fofana’s brilliant lofted through ball in the in the box in the first half. Yunus Musah lost the ball in a dangerous area leaving Radonjic with lots of space to tee up the shot to beat Mike Maignan for the equaliser. Tammy Abraham came in clutch with an 87th minute winner as Samuel Chukwueze’s cross was headed by Francesco Camarda to force the keeper to deflect the ball off the bar for Abraham to hammer home on the rebound. Milan definitely stole the result and now have four wins back-to-back in the Champions League and sit in 12th place after 6 rounds. 2 more to go against Girona and Dinamo Zagreb.

AC Milan Looking To Recover In The Champions League as Crvena Zvezda Visit
Photo by Giuseppe Cottini/AC Milan via Getty Images This will be a difficult game for the Rossoneri but getting all three points are crucial otherwise Fonseca could face consequences. AC Milan host Crvena Zvezda at the San Siro tonight as they look to jump into the top eight places of the UEFA Champions League following a couple of victories. The Rossoneri will face a difficult Red Star Belgrade who are in a very strong run in the league with 16 wins in 17 games and remain unbeaten. In the UCL, they beat Stuttgart 5-1 last time out but have lost each of the other four fixtures. Milan are reeling from a late defeat against Atalanta which shattered the Scudetto hopes but will want a win and some momentum heading into their 125th anniversary celebrations this weekend. Milan will look different for this game as Paulo Fonseca puts a more defensively focused side with Yunus Musah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek starting. Davide Calabria gets the nod over Emerson Royal. The Rossoneri will face former midfielder Rade Krunic in this game and he would definitely want to make an impression. **Expected Line Up (4-2-3-1):** Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Gabbia, Hernandez; Fofana, Reijnders; Musah, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Morata.

AC Milan Hammer Sassuolo 6-1 As Chukwueze Nets a Brace
Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images The Rossoneri have managed to find some form for December and look dangerous in front of goal. AC Milan delivered a stellar performance against Serie B leaders Sassuolo in the Coppa Italia round of 16 last night. Paulo Fonseca heavily rotated the squad and got some amazing results as the quality of the depth finally was on display. Samuel Chukwueze opened the scoring with a beautiful run behind the defence catching Tijjani Reijnders through ball before hitting the post and tapping in the rebound. Reijnders would double our lead a few minutes later with a ballistic shot from outside the box and he caught the loose ball brilliantly. Chukwueze wopuld make it a brace another few minutes later with a curler at the back post as Tammy Abraham laid off a lovely pass for him. Rafael Leao capped off a massive first half with a hard shot from inside the box as Ruben Loftus-Cheek played him in. 4-0 at the break and the Rossoneri were crusing. Fonseca made numerous changes at the break and the second half was slightly muted. Milan would open the scoring yet again as Davide Calbaria pounced on a loose ball in the box hammering in the 5th goal before Sassuolo managed to pull one back as the defence was slow to recover on the counter. The final goal came as Abraham chipped the keeper chasing down Noah Okafor square ball to mark a huge win. Milan are through to the quarter finals and will face AS Roma or Sampdoria in the quarter finals next year.

AC Milan Face Dominant Sassuolo Side from Serie B In the Coppa Italia
Photo by Grzegorz Wajda/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images The Rossoneri have a chance to start the competition well and go all the way to the final given the lack of opportunities for trophies elsewhere. AC Milan host Sassuolo at the San Siro tonight for the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia. Paulo Fonseca needs to deliver a strong start in the competition to demonstrate his ambition for a trophy that has far too long been overlooked by the club. There will be heavy rotations in the defence and attack but Tijjani Reijnders and Youssuf Fofana are expected to anchor the team and lead from the midfield. Tammy Abraham starts as the lone striker looking to build on his 3 goals and 3 assists. Sassuolo are 1st in Serie B and on a 12 game unbeaten streak across all competitions with 9 clean sheets in that run. They are usually a bogey team for us and are barrelling through the second division aiming for an immediate promotion back. Milan are coming off a strong 3-0 win over Empoli but have a packed schedule over the next two weeks. The side needs defensive discipline to prevail which will be difficult given a full rotation including Marco Sportiello getting a run out. **Expected Line Up (4-2-3-1):** Sportiello; Calabria, Tomori, Pavlovic, Terracciano; Fofana, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Loftus-Cheek, Leao (Okafor); Abraham.
