The people detained at Delaney Hall are facing brutal and inhumane conditions, including retaliation for engaging in peaceful protest. New Jersey must continue to leverage every tool at its disposal to carry out oversight of the facility and ultimately work toward shutting it down.

Today, in 1965, the federal Voting Rights Act was signed into law. This landmark legislation outlawed discriminatory voting practices. But over the years, it has been eviscerated by the Supreme Court, leaving voters across the country, especially voters of color, vulnerable.
