One thing we know from working with patients with I/DD: mental health support doesn’t look the same for everyone. For some, it means partnering with a behavioral health specialist. For others, it’s adjusting how appointments are structured.

Anxiety and depression are significantly more common in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities than in the general population. But they're also significantly underdiagnosed because symptoms can present differently, and providers often aren't trained to recognize them.
