Very proud to announce that the Bayesian version of our Phylogenetic Path Analysis method has been (finally) published in Methods in Ecology and Evolution. Another extremely enjoyable collaboration with the brilliant @achazhardenberg.bsky.social besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

PhyBaSE: A Bayesian structural equation model approach to causal inference in phylogenetic comparative analyses
One of the main limitations of phylogenetic comparative analyses is that associations between traits can only be interpreted as correlations. Here, we present a novel Bayesian structural equation ...

well, here it is lads after combing through some 1,400 records, it looks like the slender-billed curlew is indeed extinct and the last known photo taken in 1995 was probably at the point it slipped beneath the waves 🦉🧪 www.nhm.ac.uk/discover/new...

If you hate statistics like I do, then you'll love my free lectures. Putting science before statistics, 20 lectures from basics of inference & causal modeling to multilevel models & dynamic state space models. It's all free, made with love and sympathy. 🧪 #stats www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

With the LCIE we produced new maps on the distribution of large carnivores across Europe, also including updated population size estimates for each population, and in each country. lciepub.nina.no/pdf/63867050...
this is the cover of the report on the large carnivore distribution maps and population updates.

The Central European #wolf database has>20k geo and time ref records of >4500 unique genotypes since 2005. We use it to ID individuals from prey, feces, hairs and to infer dispersal, kinship, and origins of newly genotyped wolves. We've tracked 100s of wolves across Europe this way. A few examples:
