they just rolled out the stupidest update yet on tumblr

from tumblr, 11 hours ago:

Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

here's what I wrote down for her in the server! alt text is included.

discord message from Ace Lad in the official homestuck server. it says the following:

"NAME: Chapka Papkin
AGE: 8 sweeps
CASTE: Burgundy
SIGN: Argo, Sign of the Zenith

GOSSIP: Chapka! What a sweet girl. She's the one that sells old weapons, right? She's always finding the most interesting things...Wait, she's going to Jeevik Week?! ...Ah, of course, her sea-dwelling moirail is inviting her along. That makes sense, there's no way any rustblood would be able to get in otherwise...

Oh, her dress is gorgeous! Supposedly her moirail got it commissioned for her specifically, by some recluse with a hatecrush. They sure know how to design 'em, that's for sure. What interesting flora on her dress.

Well, I hope Chapka has a good time, it's nice to see something good and cool happen to her for once. I really hope nothing happens to her during the event, she has her sweet ol' lusus to take care of after all. And all of her friends would be devastated. But hey, I'm sure it'll be really fun for her! Go knock 'em out, Chapka! (Not literally, that'd be crazy.)

INFO: Chapka Papkin is a sweet girl with a love for bones and weapons, especially if they're old! She tends to collect old weapons in particular, but will sell them as well. Her friendly and polite demeanor means she can get along with just about anyone. Don't mistake her for a doormat though, she knows what to do if things get dicey, for the most part. She's usually seen helping out her neighbors and caring for her reindeer-like lusus. She loves her mace! Y'know, the giant spikey ball on a stick. A girl's always gotta be prepared! She's enjoying her life on planet the best she can before she's shipped off to who knows where and to do...Well, let's not dwell on it right now. After all, she's just been invited to the biggest event ever!! Let her have some fun, yes?"

my fantroll entry for the official homestuck server's hiveswap contest! plus a regular ref and some fun dialogue i wrote... #acedraws #hiveswap #homestuck #JeevikWeek

a rustblood fantroll in a red dress with an alien looking flower on her hip and a floral attachment on her face that's connected to the dress. her horn colors are inverted. the picture is covered in a retro/vhs like filter. at the top it says "Jeevik Week" and at the bottom is her name "Chapka Papkin"

a regular ref for Chapka. she wears a sweatervest with her symbol on it with a skirt and mary janes. info about her is: "Just your average run-of-the-mill rustblood!" "Sells and collects ancient weapons" "Loves a good skull."

On the right is some dialogue. Here it is without the typing quirks.
[Chapka]: surely you wouldn't want to invite someone else to jeevik week?!
qC [her violetblood moirail]: Of course not!! You're my dear sweet moirail Chapka!! I wouldn't want anyone else to come with me.
[Chapka]: oh delora...but what will i wear? i don't really have anything that nice...
[Delora]: Don't worry about that. I gotchu covered!

jR [jade colored text, presumably someone that Delora knows]: dude. why am i here.
jR: a dress? for jeevik week?
jR: for chapka?
jr: hmm... fine. i'll do it.
