A staged scene in Garry's Mod. A Xenomorph from Alien leaps into the air, clutching its rear end as a fireball erupts from that area.

This took about ten minutes in Gmod, mostly dragging the ragdoll into place.

A troll leaps into the air and clutches its rear end, which has mysteriously burst into flames. The troll has a protruding lower jaw and four square eyes. An armoured train rolls though a snowy landscape in the background, with a beam of light or energy coming from a device on the roof towards the troll's flaming bum. Coincidence???

This took me around 2 hours in Krita after scanning in a pencil sketch.

A humanoid snake props itself up on something and looks offscreen, mouth slightly open. The snake has a pair of eye ridges that make it look like it's glaring or frowning at something; probably another idiotic human who has insisted that snakepeople must have breasts. Have I mentioned that I think that trope is ridiculous?

Some lines around the snake guy suggest that vegetation has surrounded it.

A pair of dwarven infantrymen fighting from their foxholes in WW1, with a human manning a light machine gun for them in the foreground. They all wear full-face helmets with four eyeholes and air filters. The dwarves wield compact submachine guns, because that seems like a sensible weapon for a dwarf in this setting, but it means they haven't much range. Oh well, that's why they have humans on their heavy/long-range weapons.

I don't know what that LMG is supposed to be. Maybe something like the French Chauchat of the period, but with better magazines that won't freeze up at the merest hint of mud?

This warlock operator started as a 15-20 minute sketch in a pub under not great lighting. After a few on-off hours in Krita, it's...not terrible? *Giant python peers over his shoulder and starts waving around a sign asking why she looks like a corn snake here*

$A man in a trenchcoat and gas mask charges through a glowing portal with a giant snake at his side. The man's right eyepiece glows a sinister yellow or gold. A patch on his right shoulder shows a broomstick crossed with a gun. This guy is part of an urban fantasy story I'm working on. He's part of an XCOM-esque unit comprised of mages who specialise in hunting down liches or similar threats. The snake, his familiar, is supposed to be an African rock python, but looks more like a VERY large corn snake. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯$

And more unit #ConceptArt for some dwarven infantry (or one dwarf and a human providing long-range fire support). The dwarves of this universe invented submachine guns as a way to offset their inability to carry larger weapons. Humans in dwarven service handle the long-range work. #gameDev

A dwarven infantryman, circa 1910-1922. He wears a green tunic and trousers under a face-concealing helmet with four tinted eyepieces and two air filters in the cheeks, and holds a compact carbine in his hands. A scrawled line indicates his height is roughly 100-120 cm.

Wait, he doesn't have a beard?!?!? What kind of dwarf doesn't have a beard?!? Because it's too easy to grab in close quarters, and beards mess with the seals on gas masks like the one built into his helmet.

A dwarven support gunner, or a human in dwarven service. He wears a green trench coat with an ammo belt around his waist, along with a dwarven full-face helmet with four eyeholes and two air filters. In his right hand, he holds a long rifle that is marked as the "C-1915 auto rifle". More notes around the page cover the trooper's loadout: an automatic rifle, 6 conical magazines for it, and a handgun for backup. The gunner's assistant carries more ammo for the gun and a dwarven SMG.

Basically, the SMGs are for mass automatic fire or close range spam, which is enough to force an enemy to keep their heads down. The automatic rifle here is intended for long-range precision, with the ability to switch to automatic fire if necessary.

Notes around the image point out that the rifle is an older surplus, with about 90 rounds of .303 British ammo, and that they can wear steel armour over their uniforms.

A snakeperson reared up and staring at the viewer, with a rifle slung over their shoulder. They have drab brown/grey scales and yellow eyes, and wear a drab jerkin. Notes around the page mention the length/weight (2.5-4 metres and 120-200kg), the fact that they have 4 fingers instead our five, and that they mostly move on their bellies, standing up only to speak or intimidate.

Now the victims 'just' have to wait and see if they're going to mutate.

This is a #dieselpunk novella where a dwarven megacorporation in pre-WW1 Ireland experiments on a couple of teenagers to see what caused the "Fomorians" to appear, only for it to blow up in their faces after they cheat their suppliers. Now the kids have to adjust to it.

Remittance Witch is a #steampunk /#WeirdWest novella, set in a world that's sort of Skyrim-as-a-Western. The titular witch is a young woman with problems controlling magic in a hot and humid environment, so her parents send her to Skyrim...er...the Sydfjords for an apprenticeship. There's one problem with that: she's doing this under a retired warlock.
