A client of the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office was arrested by agents on Sept. 15.

Immigration officers detained a man inside an Alameda County courthouse for the first time last week, according to the public defender — a move that would appear to break California law.

Alameda County prosecutors have not yet publicly decided whether they’ll request to try the teen suspected of killing Derbing Jose Alvarado Gonzalez in adult court.
