We are told there's only one way. We often have choices about how we live. Here you see our zero fossil fuel fleet. This has allowed us to avoid swings in fuel prices and avoid a great many transportation costs while staying fit.

State of the energy sector: While doing some analysis for work, I discovered that the bulk of the power plants in Southern California are now renewable. And, most of them are not operated by major IOUs. They're independent firms.

Here is the gear which lets me catch waves. The surfboard-looking little things strap onto my hand. I use fins by "Dafin". Sadly, Slyde went out of business. They made the best hand planes you could buy.

Getting out into the water regularly now. I appear to have become some kind of folk hero to the masses. Apparently I'm the only person in the entire Santa Monica Bay who body surfs with a hand plane. People point me out and cheer me when they see me getting into water.

I never worked in Si Valley, but I did work adjacent in sector terms. I don't think they ever knew what normal people wanted. Some of the vendors I dealt with were pretty whack. And a couple of interviews I did at the peak were for delusional companies. www.theverge.com/tldr/915176/...

Just saw a meme about using Google Drive as swap space. Reminds me of the time, someone at an unnamed workplace set up the server's swap to a DVD drive. Which worked, until it didn't. Which left everyone confused for a couple of days until someone else put a blank DVD in. Ah, those were days...
