Increasingly, I have seen folks who released music through GameChops distance themselves from the label and express a desire to re-distro outside of it. But there's a cost involved in that which many musicians may not be able to cover. So, fuck it, let me put my money where my mouth is.

Starting my new gig in earnest tonight: I'm the new Assistant Conductor of the Nashville Symphony Chorus for the 2026-27 season. I rarely get stage fright these days, but I'm definitely a little nervous to step up in front of 150+ singers and wave my hands. Pretty excited, though

Yeah, a jazz vocal solo being wordless is understandable, a jazz singer would understand what to do. This is a gripe I have about a cappella group or choral charts. Words are an essential part of the score. It's like if someone showed an introductory mp dynamic and then just wrote "figure it out"

I know it's tedious to write out a cappella syllables for an entire arrangement, but just writing "da da da (etc.)" and then leaving the rest of the page blank is so lazy. Just write the "dahs"! Your 10 minutes of work will prevent a dozen, "Wait, what's the syllable?" questions in rehearsals.
