I knew some folks would hate the ending to the newest resident evil movie... to them I ask you to please go rewatch it. The ending is VERY consistent with Bryan's pattern of choices. I will give the critics a point that the last half of the movie wasn't as good as the first half. Still great.

Like here I am, having James arrive to rescue one of the young Werewolves he met from the pound... and I am just now realizing... he never saw the boy as a werewolf or as a wolf... he has no idea what he looks like, and sucks at the types of magic that might allow him to confirm if it is him.

Overall, very glad I went to go see it. I'd give it a 9/10 Obviously I had to leave out what themes are still sitting with me the next morning, but I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of depth.

8. Thinking on it, those that are complaining about the humor might be complaining about how goofy some things may have been, but honestly, it fit the themes they were playing with so well. I feel a lot of folks want to believe they would be the Leon Kennedy's of this... when they are in fact, not.

The second purpose was to comment on the character of our protagonist, which circles back to the surprising depth of themes. 7. If I had to call it any sort of a sub-genre beyond survival horror... its coming of age survival horror. Which is a weird sentence, but I dug it.

6. It did have humor sprinkled in, but if you removed that it would have caused pacing problems. As the humor often served two functions... the first would be to lower the tone for a second. As awesome as you think an hour and a half of straight scares and twisted visions is... its not.

It is no coincidence that the opening, and the "final hurdle" are connected, and that was brilliant. 5. I thought it was well paced, and for those complaining about the tone... I'm a little bit lost to be honest. Some people were billing it as a horror comedy... it was not even close to that.
