How is my day going? Well, I had a nightmare that ended with me waking up to find myself punching my headboard like a Chechen MMA fighter, and I ended my work day by requesting a meeting with my supervisor in which I said “fuck” more times in an hour than I have in the two years he’s known me. 🫠

I've ordered a few more novels to add to my pile, including Motherthing (another domestic horror) and So Long a Letter. The latter is by Mariama Ba, a Senegalese Muslim feminist author who passed before I was born - but it feels vital for me to read in a way I can't articulate.

Woooooooof. I had a feeling that I should avoid this particular corner of the reading space and I can see that once again my gut was correct. (And now I am sorely tempted to review the book just so that I can work in the phrase "Literary Sex Crimes" - which would be a killer name for a folk band.)

Even without All of the Bullshit right now, first aid is a great thing to know. I learned basic field medicine when I was in survival school and having that knowledge in my back pocket reminds me that I'm not totally screwed.

I told a friend today how Harvard has a finals week tradition where, at an appointed time, everyone who needs it goes outside and screams. There's something to be said for the mutual acknowledgment of communal stress, even if it's from different sources, and I think this counts.

I may be an aggressively mid person who needs to come up with an aggressively mid sum of money within the next month, but I’ve at least showered and taken my meds. All is not pear-shaped yet.

That feeling when you are so oversaturated with stress that more bad news comes and you don’t have the mental bandwidth to freak out about it… small blessings, I guess. 🫠
