Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 08/05/20254. Saying it again because of how important it is. Market research means knowing your clients!!! Don’t just contact without learning something about them! 020
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 08/05/20253. Show them and tell them why they should pick or care about you. Maybe you have a personal story that resonates with them, or maybe your art fits something specific about their needs. Again, market research is VERY important. 100
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 08/05/20252. Contact people directly. There is a sea of artists out there. Don’t expect people to come find you. 100
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 08/05/20251. Learn about Market Research: Who are the clients you want to work with? It sounds counterintuitive, but you want to start as specifically as possible. When you narrow down your advertisement audience you get MORE interest 100
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 08/05/2025Question I get all the time: >I’m a beginner artist, how do I get commissions/clients? This took me shockingly long time to figure out. When you put all your skill points in the Art Tree, you forget about the important business skills you need. So, how to fix this? 110
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 24/04/2025-You’re Still Allowed to Find Joy- Yes, the world feels heavy. Yes, it’s important to stay informed. But despair doesn’t solve anything—and it doesn’t feed your spirit. You are still allowed to laugh. To paint. To dance in the kitchen and hug your kids tight. Joy isn’t ignorance—it’s resistance. 010
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 23/04/2025-Your Brain Wasn't Built for Constant Noise- The scroll never stops, the pings never end—but you can. Step outside. Let silence be something sacred again. You don’t need to earn rest. You’re allowed to unplug, to breathe, to be without an audience. Your mind needs quiet to remember who you are. 000
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 17/04/2025Masterpieces aren't created instantly; they develop through layers and revisions. It's easy to overlook the messy beginnings of a finished work, whether a painting or a novel. Behind every polished piece are discarded ideas and hours of effort. Persevere, as the best work requires time. 000
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 16/04/2025Don’t wait for perfection to create. The act of creating is what makes it meaningful. I used to hesitate before starting a piece, afraid I’d ruin it. But the truth is, waiting for perfection means never beginning at all. Every sketch, every rough draft, every failed attempt teaches you something. 000

Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 10/04/2025📖 Authors, when you write your characters, do you picture them in your head? Or do you struggle to see them clearly? Having a visual reference helps bring them to life in ways that words alone can’t. Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 27/03/2025Hey everyone! I wanted to share a quick update—my commission prices have been adjusted to better reflect the time, effort, and demand for my work. Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 26/03/2025DON’T: Abandon or ghost clients. Kind of obvious I know, but even if you aren’t available to respond that day or next, let them know when you can give them your full attention. You are unlikely to get recommended or contacted again if you don’t communicate Comment below of others I missed! 000
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 26/03/2025DO: Create a newsletter for your clients to subscribe to! It doesn’t have to be updated super frequently, but it helps you maintain a list of contacts and keeps anyone interested updated on your work without needing to rely on algorithms or trends. 100
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 26/03/2025DON’T: Take it personally if a client can’t afford your prices. Find out what their budget is and give them options that would fit their budget. They might still turn you down, but by remaining professional, they may come back with a different project or when they have more funds. 100
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 26/03/2025DO: Remain professional at ALL TIMES. No matter what a client says, respond in a professional matter. Text gets lost in translation all the time. This doesn’t mean being a doormat though. If a client doesn’t feel right for you, turn them down, or terminate the contract in a PROFESSIONAL way. 110

Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 14/02/2025Reduce anxiety: Writing things down means no more stressing about forgetting. Plan beats panic: When it’s time to work, your tasks are ready to tackle—no blank-page panic. Embrace progress: Even if you don’t finish everything, crossing off tasks feels amazing! 100
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 14/02/2025Motivation hack for a productive day: Brain dump: Use an app like Todoist or just write things down. Do it daily: Jot tasks down at the beginning or end of the day—or as they come to you! 120
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 14/02/2025I’ve had a bit of a block with portraits recently. Simple shapes and contours. Gotta get in that observation practice too. Whenever you get an art block sometimes you just need to go back to basics 030
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 13/02/2025What a great turn out for the Raven Fest charity event at Raven Forge Games! I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of the charity. My auction item was able to raise so much money for Family Promises ♥️ 020
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 12/02/2025Please!! You don’t need to apologize for sending me AI images as references. I am not offended. Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 07/02/2025Meet the artist: 👩🎨 * Mom of 2 littles who keep me very busy * Obsessed with the idea of being able to play Final Fantasy music on piano * Drinks more caffeine than water because it makes my brain tingle * Loves creepy horror gameplay but would never play them myself because I’d be too scared… 000
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 06/02/2025I HAVE to know. How many authors out there use to write on a fanfiction site? I’ll be the first to raise my hand. I definitely wrote an Inuyasha fanfiction about Miroku and Sango as a kid. I wish I could go back and see if it’s any good. Hahahafanfiction.net 000

Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 31/01/2025Playing around with this scene a bit. My first sketch I felt like the character ended up hiding too much of the background. I love his big floppy hat, but it does get in the way a bit. I'll probably try a few different mood passes next with some color. 030
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 30/01/2025Sketching out a scene from my children's book about a magical wizard cat and his fellowship. He's a little 'cat-astrophic' or a bit of 'cat-astrophe ' if you catch what I'm saying. This room is still a bit too organized for my taste still though... I'll have to mess it up a bit more 😼 010

Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 29/01/2025Watching Record of Lodoss War for the first time! And although I prefer the sub, I did have a lot of fun sketching characters like Deed and character adjacent portraits in that classic early anime style while watching dubbed. The style of old school anime is truly peak. 020

Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 24/01/2025What do I really want to do in these moments though? Play video games, watch TV...TURN OFF MY BRAIN. But I know I'll never see progress if I turn to those things. Leave turning off your brain as your reward for your hard work. Not the other way around. And the best part is it'll feel more rewarding. 110
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 24/01/2025Just start! Go for walk Take a hot shower Meditate Doodle, scribble, trace. Get that blood flowing from your brain to your hand Sometimes just having an EASY routine that leads up to sitting down is just what you need to wake up your brain and say 'hey! oh right its time to draw now! 110
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 24/01/2025Sitting down to create, and your is just...EMPTY!? Where did all my great ideas go? Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 23/01/2025The hardest thing about being a professional artist, is allowing some days to be "unproductive". It's okay to sit and sketch and practice fundamentals without the goal of creating a final product. It can feel like you haven't done anything 'productive'. In actuality you are still moving forward. 010
Amanda Case (Commissions Open) @abyssalcase.bsky.social · 22/01/2025Never a bad time to sit down and do some studies. Today I practiced gesture and form by studying Aladdin's carpet scene. Such a simple design but way harder than it looks! 000
