The jump from div 7 to div 6 seems pretty big, but it might just be that low level / entry level don't play sq as much and tourney with skill ceiling are not ranked.

We took our first ever dip into the Shark Tank this past weekend and got 5th place overall 🦈💥 Some of the teams we faced were super tough and we're looking forward to rematching them in the future! #compsplatoon

True, there is a distinct lack of play by play analysis being done in the scene, coupled with an overall low agency attitude displayed by players (reactive and formulaic play). As soon as the hand holding goes away (leaving low level), a lot struggle and just give up.

My gut feeling is that the barrier is low ink. This is not a new issue, but I know a good amount of players and teams have reaching low ink ban as their main goal. And so reach a skill level they feel satisfied with and don't bother grinding out to high level.

Been playing as a low level comp player since splat 3 release. This is not an issue at all there. Getting scrims is easy, usually we just contact people we had close game against in tournament and we schedules scrims. Finding a coach is also not too hard.

Feeding was always a funny term, because it's not like the other team gets stronger by player dying repeatedly. But with the new patch, feeding is real now. I wonder if we will see comp playing around chip dmg and leaving kill for a specific player to trigger aura? #splatoon3 #compsplatoon

I understand it can be frustrating, but we have to be careful to not turn this into another "team". Finding a new scapegoat is not the way to break the cycle. We can share our thoughts and help people learn, but we cannot force anyone to understand, that's something they have to do themselves.

I would just be very cautious about this line of thinking as it can lead to inaction and procrastination. Not saying this is what you are doing now tho, but you are always gonna be more knowledgeable in the future and there is always more to learn and understand.

Exactly, at this point playing rain maker is like asking melee players to play Coin Battle or Stamina Mode. It’s alright for messing around or side events, but it just doesn’t work for high level competitive play.

My roommate came back home while finals were on. She has never played the game, but I was able to explain briefly what was going on since it was zone. And while a bit lost, she was able to understand the hype and was starting to get it. Then next game was clam.. and .. yeah .. she just left.

Really enjoyed watching Riptide. Amazing casters, hosts and great production value. On of the best live splatoon 3 event by far. But .. man I kinda wish it was zone only. Going into clam followed by rainmaker kinda in the final killed the vibe. It’s just not that interesting to watch.

And in this case, the accused has not shared their side of the story yet beyond denying the claim, at least publicly. But still.. posting that stuff is really not ideal. Personally, I would have preferred an audit done by a neutral third party. Although, probably not realistic for a volunteer org.

I agree, but I feel like it the community response would have been more of the same. Doubling down on attacking SSC and doubting their competence. It seems like you can never be judged innocent unless you post a google doc addressing everything. Guilty until proven innocent.

We must try as a community to make sure people can feel safe. But the task can never be on any single person or org. While criticism is fair, I believe accusations made against Splat Safety under the premise that they make members of community feel unsafe are dangerous. 🧵 4/5

Your feelings are your own and not a single person can control or dictate them. Your sense of safety is constructed through your own experiences. The only thing SSC can really do is prevent problematic individual from participating in events. They are not social workers or therapists. 🧵 3/5
