I think this gif perfectly sums up how Colten and Sierra feel most of WISHING BLUES, but specially when talking to each other. (At first. This changes. Slowly. Drastically. Very, very romantically.) #DVParty

THE BLURB

If nineteen-year-old Colten Ellsworth had the option of how to spend his last summer before university, he wouldn’t be visiting a sweltering desert. Forced to join his grandfather on a bucket-list trip, he’s determined to end the expedition early by bribing every possible escort.

Colten’s ridiculous offer to ‘get paid to do nothing’ is appealing to eighteen-year-old tour guide Sierra Izidro. Needing hush money to stop her ex-boyfriend from revealing her magical secret, which would render her an outlaw, she accepts. But upon learning that Colten’s grandfather is a famous wildlife journalist and her childhood hero—she betrays Colten and agrees to guide them.

The journey across the desert to an abandoned mining town is a veritable death sentence, made more harrowing by Sierra and Colten’s constant bickering. When their motley crew comes face-to-face with mercenaries wielding magic in impossible ways, they’re implicated in a conspiracy threatening Sierra’s home. To save it, she’ll have to expose her secret by learning to use the power of her magical curse, while Colten will have to decide between returning to his life of comfort and ballrooms or continuing to brave shootouts and rowdy saloons to aid his new friends. Their alliance is essential to their survival, but the desert is a treacherous thing, and it hides more secrets than it has stars.

I’ve heard that attending book cons and writer conferences is very important for marketing books. Are writers from distant countries (not based in the US or Europe) at a disadvantage when seeking represention and going on sub because they wont be able to attend as easily as others might? #AskDV
