I only know about this movie because it stars the daughter of the Monkees’ Mickey Dolenz, who voiced Arthur in season 1 of “The Tick,” a connection which was made in the letter columns of one of the post-Edlund Tick comics! Wow, that’s a long journey of useless info in my brain!

I have my own, decades-long issues with Todd’s style, impact, etc, but I don’t see anything at all out-of-character or inappropriate with these takes on canonically-big guys like Bane, Alec, and Darkseidz I don’t even like the design of Absolute Batman, and to me, these’re perfectly cromulent.

I’ve always thought of this story as objectively great but my least favorite of all the Harvey stories in the Adventures lines. Too bleak, with even Bruce giving up on Harvey. Far preferred the works by Ty, Peterson, and the 1 by Puckett.

I saw Friedkin’s “Bug” (the adaptation of Tracy Letts’ play with a career-best performance by Ashley Judd) on opening night with a crowd that was clearly expecting a straightforward horror film. 1/2 of the audience peeled off throughout, and when it was over, someone shouted “The FUCK was that?!?!”

(6) And when Tora came back to life in BoP, Guy reunited with her in Tomasi’s GLC run. It’s bittersweet bc she’s too fucked up from dying/undying to pursue a relationship with Guy, who knows he can’t help her and eventually learns to just stay away. But I love this bit so, so much.

(5) Guy eventually got better around the time of Tora’s death, when his Vuldarian DNA took over and repaired his brain. The Guy who has been around since the mid 90’s is a complex, layered version of the men he was. He leans into the jerkass side sometimes but only for the bit.
