Three months of @tocharstories.bsky.social and we've had over 80 meetings and criss-crossed the Midlands eight counties. We've been mapping, listening and connecting and now we're seeding ideas, events, workshops - all about enabling #wetlands communities in a just transition. #TócharStories #bogs
and infographic for Tóchar Community its Stories showing its process of mapping, listening and seeding and how it is guided by a just transition and the environmental justice framework of people, places and species being seen together in place and belonging. It calls for those who are interested to share and connect with Tóchar as its work grows across 2025.

In other parts of its range, the Mountain Hare (Lepus timidus) typically turns white in the winter. However, the Irish subspecies (L. timidus hibernicus) stays brown all year round! Our only native lagomorph, the Irish Hare is widespread in Ireland, and found in habitats such as bogs and grasslands.

IPCC's national Hop To It Frog Survey received its first frogspawn record of the season on December 27th. Though highest numbers of frogspawn sightings generally occur in February and March, do keep an eye out in January! You can submit sightings here: www.ipcc.ie/help-ipcc/ho... Photo: A. Fogarty

And like this video from #Roscommon County Council & Eileen Fahey, #Kilteevan Tidy Towns, on how local people became custodians of #Cloonlarge Bog and began learning about its unique biodiversity and the need to protect it as well as its #climate action. #TócharStories youtu.be/VeIWJoqjxj4?...

In 2025, a narrow focus on limited, gradual emissions reductions is not enough. My thoughts on the lack of ambition in the new Irish government’s climate plans www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2...

Why is climate justice missing from new Government programme?
Ireland is uniquely positioned to lead on transformative climate justice, but the incoming Government is proceeding with business as usual
