If Farage found guilty, he could be barred as MP- strategy was to sacrifice this election to stop investigation and run elsewhere later. Now, facing only Count Binface, he either wins and risks being barred anyway, or loses to a genius bit of satire, completely demolishing his political career.

tech bros genuinely think 'useful' means 'immune to the laws of financial gravity' - railways literally built the modern world and still caused a massive ruinous crash. it’s not about the tech disappearing, it’s about who gets left holding the bag when the speculative hype finally pops.

Ultimately it's a case of the ultra wealthy class funding parties, think-tanks, buying news outlets, controlling social media platforms in order to ensure we point fingers at each other at the bottom of the ladder instead of looking up and realising they're laughing at us.

I wonder if Stephen King is on the Epstein list, which is why we're seeing a load of his films now because when it's revealed, no one will want to make the films, so they're cashing in now? Bit of a stretch? Yes. Accusing someone of something horrible, also yes. I liked the Long Walk however.

Interesting article in @theconversation.com about the proliferation of Uk flags by Callum Blades. It's not about being a patriot. It's about being terrified of the world. They're projecting fear of everything they don't understand onto a bit of cloth. It's a psychological crutch for the insecure.

the constant and vicious politicisation of the refugee debate is something else. When a columnist has to write that the media is using it to fuel hatred, and that history will damn them for it, you know the UK has passed cynical and landed squarely in the realm of the sociopathic

How's it going in the united states? You can see an ultra fetishism for the 'constitution', as if it's this bible, and then there are different religious sects (are the amendments the new testament?). The pledge of allegiance becomes prayer. Then we wonder why dictatorial people succeed there?

I've been sad and stressed recently. Seeing more Reform UK flags pop up. Seeing people thinking that their policy is just 'reform the UK' and don't realise they want to introduce the privatisation of the NHS, and get rid of human rights. It genuinely causes that pit of dread inside. I'm scared.

If you remove the politics, from a quantum physics perspective, the notion of a closing window driven by geopolitical competition for fundamental scientific breakthroughs is interesting. The real concern to me is what kind of control or profit this progress is ultimately intended to secure.

It annoys me when people say we need a Joe Rogan of the left. We had a Joe Rogan of the left once - it was Joe Rogan, but I think the better-than-thou-ism of so many of the left rendered podcasting as childish and not worth pursuit, so it fell to the right to take it seriously

The way the left will win the next election in any form is embracing meme culture. Farage dominates social media, I think we need a return to this kind of thing to contextualise left politics and humour. We are seen as too humourless. Am I on to something or joking into the wind?
