Fair scunnered, most of the time. I like interesting people, learning new stuff and polite discourse - but if you’re after my money or my body, probably best you don’t bother following me as I have none of the former and the second is knackered.

Just had someone at the door “not selling anything” wanting to discuss the overhead electrical supply cable which crosses part of my property on its way to my neighbours’ house. Have also had several letters from a firm of solicitor re this. ⬇️

Just been out in my dressing gown to ask next door’s tradesman to turn down the badly tuned radio he has blaring in the garden, audible in every room of my double glazed house. The noise from his actual work does not worry me in the slightest but I am NOT putting up with his radio all day.

First English asparagus of the year! Mmmmm, love it.
Picture shows a dinner plate with a blue rim. The cutlery resting on either side shows the diner has stopped eating in order to take the photo.
On the plate are - some green peas, a piece of baked salmon, several asparagus spears and some new potatoes, atop of which are two dollops of hollandaise sauce.

Ruddy Duolingo 🤬 As if the pesky owl and the constant exhortations to spend money weren’t sufficiently annoying, for the second time this week their app has crashed my tablet. Frozen solid and I can’t even force a close down. Will have to wait until battery empties. Again!

@royal-mail.bsky.social Congratulations on your imaginative renaming of safe places parcels can be left. An “enclosed porch” is now, apparently, synonymous with in-between-wheelie-bins-in-the-pishing-rain. And your failure to insert the advice card thru my letter box helped immensely!

Had our own wee Burns Supper tonight, at the request of our wee Sassenachs. 5 y/o said the Selkirk Grace and his 7 y/o sister gave us Tae A Thistle and Red, Red Rose & we all sang 500 Miles. Neither were that enamoured with the haggis, neeps & tatties but we had fun. Appropriate napkins in use.
Picture shows printed version of The Selkirk Grace and a paper table napkin showing 6 Scots dialect words with their translations - glaikit, fouter, mauchit, shiver, dreich and gallus.

I do have sympathy for delivery drivers. They have a rough time; expected to meet unreasonable time targets & poorly paid. But I wish they’d ring the ruddy doorbell when they leave a parcel on my doorstep in the pishing rain! My sympathy wanes in ratio with the degree of soaking my item gets.

I spent a lot of ‘25 teaching myself to like yoghurt and now enjoy it - in its full fat Greek form, with sufficient seeds, nuts and fruit. This year, I will learn to like kiwi fruits. One day I will be a fully functioning adult.

Got a lovely early Xmas present. Husband’s relapsed DLCBL has been kicked into remission, with NED on the scan, courtesy of CAR T Therapy and the wonderful team at OUH. Bless the NHS! I reckon this would’ve cost over $1 million in the US. Cost to us in the UK? Just our normal taxes etc.

Am struck by parallels between people’s behaviour around the 17th/18th C witch trials, and current levels of blame, hatred and lack of judicial process. People are being manipulated now, just as they ever were, and innocent people continue to suffer. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/j...

Local election here today Dragged myself out to support our Lib Dems, who do a great job at local level. Am feeling sh*t & ordinarily I’d have been confident my vote wasn’t needed but one of those FlagSha**ers was also standing. Am wondering if the Tory 3rd candidate will split some of the vote.

One can get Hot X Buns and strawberries all year round, and Xmas starts in July, but those precious few weeks of the greengage season are something I look forward to every year. I like seasonality, dammit. Anyone else have them stewed, on top of tapioca or sago for school lunch? Prefer them fresh!

Petition: Ensure plurality of political coverage across UK broadcast media at all times
We want to ensure that a plurality of views from all political parties in Westminster are represented and the nations parliaments are heard all year round, not just election times. The rules for coverage during elections should apply at all times.

I’ve never in my life been described as soignée Today’s very welcome rain has rendered me even less so My hair has frizzed itself to the point where it now resembles a dandelion clock which has stuck its finger in an electric socket The only nice thing about this is it reminds me of my Grandma

#wtaf #UK Just had our buildings and contents insurance renewal quote. The premium has gone up by 24%. They blame it on increases in costs of building materials & manpower - though the projected cost of rebuilding has only gone up by 4%. We haven’t made a claim in 25 yrs Time to look elsewhere.

#showmeyourknits I’m used to using DPNs to knit top-down socks but this is my first try at using Addi CrasyTrio flexible DPNs. I like. Stitches split across 2 needles, using the third to knit onto etc. Pattern is by Winwick Mum, yarn is Opal Black Dragon 4 ply
Photo shows a half knitted sock and a ball of yarn - in shades of blue with subtle striping.
There are two flexi needles shown.

The weather has cooled considerably and, despite one finger being a wee b*st*rd, I am having the loveliest day playing with fabrics, sitting at the sewing machine with all the doors and windows open.

It was a tad warm here yesterday, especially in my car. Cooled down to a mere 33° after a couple of miles, thank goodness. Feels just as hot today but I don’t have to go out. It’s over 27° indoors but the fan does help. A bit. #heatwave
