I’ve heard this called “sticky fingers” and for the same rationale

But it does strike me as interesting that MLK Jr.’s foundation for nonviolence seemed mainly to be rooted in love, not God’s vengeance. Even his strong/condemning words from justice are more about just actions now than about God’s justice over others in the end.

I had in mind how this quote gets used to talk about final judgment. People use it as a conversation ender on universal reconciliation because of the horrors committed by people. But that didn’t seem insurmountable to Balthasar, who lived through both world wars

After a reread and rethink, I don’t technically disagree with it.

That’s probably just publisher talk. Apokatastasis and Reformed perspectives are both old (one much older than the other) and this book is probably just attempting to reconcile them

A brown cover of a book by Jeff Grupp with medieval images of knights battling whose title is
Hyper-Calvinist Universal Salvation: The Systematic Theology of the Unchosen Saved by the Lake of Consuming Fire at the Eschaton

I’ve been thinking about this quote, and I don’t think I find it as persuasive as I used to

The AC parish I went to didn’t do this. Yours is the first I’ve heard of

I can’t believe that you’re close to one of the 12 70mm IMAX theaters. I’d love to see it in one

I knew one such person. I think it’s still seen as an initiation rite and no original sin doesn’t mean no sin to be dealt with

I almost forgot about St. Peter’s Basilica, if you like big fancy worship spaces. And the The Cardinals often have really cheap tickets if you want to watch a MLB game. The metro link will drop you off right outside the stadium too

Charlie Gitto’s on The Hill is great Italian (almost every Italian place on The Hill is great). Pay Connolly’s is a cool Irish Pub in Dogtown. The London Tea Room is a fun experience as well. Sasha’s Wine Bar has good food and drinks, and Urban Chestnut is a great place to get a beer.

The French Patisserie I mentioned along with Nathaniel Reid are the best bakeries. Bowood in Central West End is good brunch. Seoul Taco is Korean-Mexican fusion and a local favorite.

The Botanical Gardens are gorgeous and there’s a French patisserie named Chouquette nearby. The Loop in University City is a cool walk with shops and restaurants as well as Central West End. If you like adult jungle gyms, then City Museum is great.

Forest Park has that museum, a zoo, and an art museum that are all free. And the zoo and art museum are top notch. The Muny is the largest outdoor amphitheater in the country and it has free seats if there’s a show you’d like to see.

Our diocese does both. Parishes have their designated employee, but there are also diocesan wide youth events throughout the year. The larger parishes do a good job at inviting/including the parishes that don’t have a designated employee for additional events outside the diocesan ones too

I think part of the reason people are reacting so strongly to Magnifica Humanitas is that most of us are longing for someone with power, anyone, to stand up against the soul-crushing machinery (and with regular people) and say "no, this is wrong, and I am on your side."

I’ve had a few professors state in the syllabus and on the first day that screens weren’t allowed in the classroom. I don’t think anyone used them unless it was in conjunction with an Apple Pencil or the like

If you also want less technical but still rich options: – Susan Grove Eastman’s Romans Interpretation Bible Commentary – Gaventa’s more accessible “When in Romans” – Rutledge’s Romans sermons “Not Ashamed of the Gospel”

Hey Narthex! If a priest wanted the rite of reconciliation, and it’s agreed upon in their diocese that a college should not provide it, where would they go for confession? 🕯️

If your experience mirrors mine, then this is impacted more by your home parish than otherwise. My Anglo-Catholic parish did not prepare me for what seems to be the standard practice of intinction in both ACNA and TEC

Yeah, I think it would be really helpful too. From what I’ve gathered, IO language is mainly an online movement that is still growing, so we have yet to create such resources
