Overly proud of dinner: roasted pumpkin from the allotment (Jack Be Little, super tasty!), figs on sale in the supermarket, end of a tin of feta, and some chilli jam I quite miraculously made from allotment chillies #food
Small Portmeirion plates with roasted pumpkin, raw figs, feta and chilli jam moderately nicely arranged on them.

Foreground is the morning's "foraging" except it's really just picking fruit from the trees along the road/collecting windfall. It is SO confusing to me that nobody does this, but then one thing this town has is plenty of fruit. (eggs from the farm over the way!)
Nine Braeburn apples, two dozen Conference pears, a large bag of a kilo of Czar plums, a small bag of 280g elderberries (and a tray of eggs).

In an attempt to get some early relaxing in this weekend we are watching Wuthering Heights for my 14th time this year and P's 16th, whilst I prep some more lovely local fleece for spinning. #yarnsky

18 years' ago I spent several glorious summer months in Stockholm and whilst @onemalinh.bsky.social was at work I took the tube and wandered around at every tube stop in Stockholm. I think this might be my favourite photo from that endeavour, but can't remember where it was...
A photo of a shop front in a square outside a tube station in Stockholm. Above the entrance it reads Nightmare OUTLET, with signs either side that say Alltid Bäst Pris!? It appears to sell cheap clothes...

Couldn't agree more, though it's never been so easy nor required so little input from me as here! These were just from supermarket potatoes that got left too long, only in May - have put the plants back in to see if they want to do any more!
Replanted potato plants in a patch of earth - looking pretty straggly, but they might come back!

Someone left a few yellow courgettes at the allotment in the communal space so I took one home and air fried it and the bodybuilder community are not wrong, this is by far the best way to eat them. #food Also, I grew these potatoes at the allotment!

Happy Friday all - here's one of P's allotment sunflowers this morning. Look at the busy bee in the middle 💛 Another Glastonbury quirk - doesn't matter where you are in the town, your sunflowers will always face up to the Tor 🌱
The top of a sunflower. If you look closely, you can see a bee, busy in the centre of the flower.

My Auntie Marjorie, my godmother, died yesterday, and I shall miss her terribly. She was 89, and I hadn't seen her in too long, but we wrote sometimes, and spoke on the phone, and when I remember her she's always smiling, like this picture from, indeed, my christening.
Me, a tiny baby in a christening dress old enough that three generations of my family had already worn it, held, just about, for I am wriggly, by a glamourous woman in a hat with fake flowers pinned on, and a floral jacket and matching dress. She's smiling enormously, with many teeth.

Delving into the stash for some colour to work with today - when I remember to prepare things properly they spin up so much better! Think this will be really nice plied with the natural cream I've been spinning so far. #TourDeFleece

Day 3 of #tourdefleece2026 and what with still being exhausted from the football and being distracted by the diaries earlier mentioned, it's just a little spin today, but I did start picking over some fresh fleece to crack on with so hoping I do more tomorrow!
My hand holding my drop spindle spun with just slightly more Exmoor Horn than yesterday, still a lovely cream colour

Early blackberries are ready! A bit on the bright and tasty side, but they'll cook up nicely with apples and a bit of sugar. Looks like it's going to be a fantastic year for them, I am going to practice jam...

A bit of a slow start to #tourdefleece2026 - needed to wash some more fleece first, so was delighted to open up this mystery bag I bought about three years' ago to find it's in great condition! Prepped some elderly bits of Exmoor Horn so I could get started with at least a few lengths. #tourdefleece

Added some alt text for you, @vikkislademp.bsky.social - and keep up the good work ❤️
NHS Meningitis B Vaccine
After raising concerns in the Chamber after the outbreak of meningitis B in Kent and Weymouth, I am pleased that the Government are undertaking a one-off programme of vaccination.

If you are in Year 13 you should be contacted directly through the NHS app, text, email or letter.

If you are under-25 and will be starting university for the first time, you will be able to book an appointment directly with your local pharmacy.

Please do contact my office if you require further advice or support.

I will continue to push for all young people to receive this as a matter of course.

#allotmenttales first tomatoes are in the polytunnel, along with two chilli plants! The soil in here is basically dust and terrible quality, so I've mixed it with soaked woodchip and a fantastic layer of slime I dragged out of the bath-pond at the top of the plot. Let's see what happens!

P brought me in this extraordinary rose from the garden earlier - couldn't recall seeing anything quite like it before but there was immediately a similar, more pink one, in Frances' garden at Chelsea 🌷
My hand holding a rose in a small cream vase - the head of the flower is striped a striking red and white, and it contrasts nicely with a couple of green leaves.

Sorry, I wouldn't usually put this man in your TL, but we are up to five damning headlines in a row in a mainstream British newspaper.

Probably the film fewest people have seen when I mention it. I adore this film, it is a barrel of very well-made young dystopian foolishness with a tragic end, and I must've seen it at least 250 times. We have had the kettle (not a typo) for 27 years now, it's called Jude.

...it was horseradish, you were right. Now I see why you're not allowed to grow it "uncontained"! So...any ideas what to do with a LOT of horseradish?! This photo is just the start, I think I got about 10kg out of the ground so far and there's absolutely more to come... #allotmenttales

Apart from the previous post, have fully cleared out a bed now! This soil is gorgeous, clearly the result of a lot of work from the long-gone previous owner (cannot fully describe just HOW clay the ground is)... #allotmenttales (mute if you don't care about this topic, will try to tag in future!)
