I went to the Mouse Bunker earlier because I saw two posts on Instagram from different accounts purporting to show photos from inside, so I figured there must be a way inside now! Well, they must have closed it in the meantime for I couldn’t find a way in :(

The Mouse Bunker in Berlin, a brutalist behemoth with long blue turrets sticking out like guns to keep away any unwanted intruders. They used to do tests and experiments on animals here, so they didn’t want anyone interrupting their fun.

From Instagram, a story of someone tagging AB to say they’d removed a pro-Palestinian sticker, and my response to say such stickers don’t survive long in Berlin because they’re offensive to people who support ethnic cleansing. But I don’t think Instagram is showing the story. It’s also complicit.

It’s the Berlin Wall’s birthday. Its parents thought it would last forever, and for many years it seemed that way, but everything is temporary, everything. Never lose hope. This part was “lost” for years after Mauerfall, then miraculously found, now it seems to be “lost” again.

A small abandoned electronics store with the window on the door smashed, presumably by an irate customer who couldn’t believe they were closed again. But they’ve been closed for years now. It’s a shame. Everyone goes to the same huge shops to buy all their electronic stuff and the little guys’ stores are left to rot. It’s progress.
