clean up day. got backups running since my old external drive ran out of space last update. and outside is a mess. been getting hammered with storms. trees down everywhere in the neighborhood and I can't even see part of my backyard. i'll be outside with a chainsaw. send blue skies and sunlight

i'm back. well... i did a few shorter days after the last update. mostly just concept sketches and lighting tests. didn't work. v18 beat me up but honestly the insane positive reactions seem to indicate it was worth it so no regrets. ended up doing kindof a 3 day weekend: pizza, dogs, switch.

yesterday, while i was doing sound/music edits with headphones on: kenji, my 5 month old puppy, snatched the appletv remote off the coffee table & took it outside to chew on it in the yard in the process, he downloaded, installed, & purchased NFL Network with his mouth

Aaryn @aarynstr8.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

full edit #4 today took about 11 hours to get through... which honestly is amazing. i'm not usually down to 1 day by lap 4. this one... is... a lot i'm sitting at like 90-95% right now i think...

0130

Aaryn @aarynstr8.bsky.social · 09/07/2026

finally through the first run of sounds and music. so i can officially say the first draft of v18 is done✅ now it's editing and polishing. soon

1170

Aaryn @aarynstr8.bsky.social · 09/07/2026

starting day 5 of sound and music. i think i'm officially through the first pass for sounds and little over halfway for music. i continue to underestimate this one. thought sounds would be fairly quick. instead, there's now a new record on sounds to the point that i just stopped counting

0100

Aaryn @aarynstr8.bsky.social · 04/07/2026

finished my 3rd edit of v18 today and it's much better. i still have some things that need addressed but think it's smooth enough that i can start the sounds and music part

i love this thing and it still means the world to me. it's been my desktop background since was also fun just hanging out, existential chatting, and watching it slowly come together it was seriously a very thoughtful gift that still makes me smile

Aaryn @aarynstr8.bsky.social · 25/06/2026

so the way i create: i dont allow myself to see anything put together until everything is done. so i create stacks of things that i want until the end to assemble. but my favorite checkpoint in that process is when i get everything into one folder together and i finally get to focus on one thing ✅
