Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 15/02/2025Not sure if everyone has seen but there is a boycott planned thruout the United States for February 28th. People are doing an Economic Blackout on big businesses/corporations. Do not shop at Target, McDonalds, Starbucks, Walmart, etc. Buy local, support small businesses <3 Start today if u can! 010
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 15/02/2025it's also disappointing that the movie is portrayed as "just a form of entertainment/escape" I have read an article where those involved have said people shouldn't look too deep into it to compare to our current political climate. But that's impossible when your making a "political thriller" 000
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 15/02/2025There are SO many interesting ideas and opportunities presented. I'm just like "wow" there were so many ways they coulda gone with that concept. So many possibilities for story, message, real life connections, character growth, etc. But it was just kinda fumbled. 100
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 15/02/2025Just saw Captain America: Brave New World, & its a decent movie. I agree with a lot of reviews that it's not the best but it isn't horrible. I *have* been thinking about the movie a lot tho. cuz everything was there for this to be such a good movie. it's kinda disappointing that it falls short. 100

Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 27/11/2024Yea, can't say AI should never be used as a resource. But so much of writing is based on human experience. I think a large amount of the writing process requires a human touch. The ideas, characters, story, language. AI definitely can take away from those. 110
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 27/11/2024I sure hope so T°T Though, even then, it sounds so easy for people utilizing AI to just flood markets with low quality books :( 010
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 27/11/2024"[Writing is] a labor of love" You literally took out the 'labor' T°T I mean, it's Quantity over Quality. But with the rate at which people consume media nowadays it feels so hard to preserve Quality. I do believe Writing is an act of heart. I also believe AI takes away from that. 000
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 27/11/2024So publishing companies utilizing AI to publish books is growing. And as a writer, someone who spent 4 years in college studying English, volunteering for literary magazines, and working on my writing just to have a company charge $1,000+ for an AI to do everything. This sucks. 243

Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024it's not just 1 company it's every single one I've applied to. It's like real people don't even exist its either ghosting or automated messages. it's so disheartening to not get a single acknowledgement of you until the rejection letter is written up. #Writingcommunity 020
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024I understand the Publishing Industry job market is very competitive But how is it, that after sending an application I can't even get a confirmation it was received. I send emails, I make calls, I try everything to reach out & nothing. Then today I get a rejection. #WritingCommunity 240

Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024That def helps a lot in trying to understand the personalities of varies characters. I know it can be difficult to realistically portray a character that is so different from oneself. getting first hand experience talking to others with experience & making any connections u can makes that easier 010
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024Yes exactly how I feel! Worldbuilding is such a magical thing and I love diving into it. Wish some of my worlds could really exist 110
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024It's so important to create those positive role models / heroes. One's life & experiences r always in conversation w/ the world around them & how identities gets portrayed. Its important for readers too. To find books w/ perspectives they might not identify with. Put themselves in others shoes 010
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024Yea I think u can tell a lot about people from the stories and things they write. In many ways stories can be a reflection of the author. The types of genres they lean towards, the types of characters, what they focus on, their style of writing, the things they call to ur attention.. #Writer 010

Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024I unfortunately can't say my culture plays much of a role in my writing. I never really felt very connected to my Puerto Rican heritage. Honestly I can't even understand Spanish & I studied it every year I was in school T°T It's a part of my identity I would love to explore more <3 #Writer 020
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024As someone who is Aro/Ace I also try to get much more LGBTQ rep in my writing. There is often so little representation for these groups still especially for Aromantics / Asexuals. #LGBTQ #Aro #Ace #Writer 140
Aaron August @aaronwaugust.bsky.social · 30/10/2024Raised in the city, I think that reflects a lot in my tendency to skew towards Urban Fantasy. I see so much set in Medieval or far off worlds. Ive often thought what if Fantasy was just engrained into my everyday modern life. Probably why I loved books like PJO #Writers 110
