Notice what happened to Goncalves, btw? Not seeing a lot of reporting on that, but it's pretty obviously tied to his vote-switch on rent control.

No really. It's a thing. These are real bumper stickers. I lived in the Finger Lakes for a few years and it's wholly accurate.
Bumper sticker that reads "Ithaca, New York: teen square miles, surrounded by reality."

And we knew it was bullshit then, not least of which because it was “reported“ by the excreable Fast Company.

@bostonglobe.com @dankennedy.net Dude, fix your headlines, man!!! This is front and center on the homepage!!!
The Boston Globe homepage misspells Patriots QB "Drake Maye's" name without the final "e". It's the same way on the headline on the story itself.

I love the mention of stenography, and it's wholly accurate. Far too many "political reporters" are little more than stenographers today in order to preserve their precious access to the powerful at all costs.

Starbucks is the only coffee I've had that is truly universal across all of America. In that no matter where you buy Starbucks coffee or food? It sucks ass. Worst goddamn coffee I've ever had, every time.

Words to live by. Thx to @edzitron.com
The aggression with which AI boosters and executives act toward those who aren’t impressed suggests a genuine intellectual and moral weakness. Nobody who’s this insistent, aggressive and violative with their language of “it’s here and if you don’t adopt it you’re stupid and dead” has ever been right about anything. Nobody this desperate, insistent and forceful has ever had good intentions, good vibes or brought good omens — they are always bearers of some kind of con.

Shirley not-too-subtly roasts Jon Chesto, too.
During the pandemic, many companies, the Globe included, began hiring people from all over the country and did not require them to relocate. That allowed firms to recruit and retain the best talent. Larry became a beneficiary of that policy. He moved to upstate New York to be closer to his grandchildren, and he got to stay at the Globe. We and our readers are better for it.

While I appreciate Larry’s hot take on return-to-office – by the way, Jon agrees with him – what we need now is not to go back to the way things were. We need to adapt and find new ways to connect and collaborate that actually work for a modern workforce.

Croft isn’t your typical private school. It’s for-profit, fast-growing, with the vibe of an idealistic startup out to change the world. The board members are also all investors, and none of them have children at the school. Many parents only learned the school was for-profit after Given’s alleged misconduct.

Commonwealth Landing businesses notice traffic backups

People like Holmgren understand those concerns. It’s still annoying, though.

“I know the end result will be worth it, because what they’ve already done is beautiful,” she said. “It just kind of stinks.”

She said Barrett’s Waterfront has noticed a little dip in restaurant sales.“But we’ve also noticed an uptick in third-party delivery services, so your DoorDash, Uber Eats … because people want our food and they want to support us, but they don’t want to drive here,” she said.

I don't think there's a place for trustees ANYWHERE in journalism who have such raw disdain for their employees. But what do I know? I've only worked in public radio for 25 years. Oh what's Kevin done? Been a goddamn PR hack who doesn't know how to use the 1st person vs 3rd person in his own bio.
“I don’t think there is a place for a union that uses these tactics at a tiny journalism nonprofit, whether it’s in Vermont or across the country,” Ellis said.I’ve run issue campaigns, written speeches for politicians, and interviewed writers and ere he ran strategy campaigns, crisis communications, speech writing and public relations efforts for clients nationwide.

He has advised senior non-profit and private sector executives on sensitive strategy and communications questions in all sectors, including Vermont’s historic marriage equality campaign.

He was a co-founder of Ellis Mills Public Affairs and spent 22 years at KSE Partners, LLC, a leading government affairs and communications firm.

Kevin spent 10 years as a newspaper reporter in Nashville, Washington, DC and Burlington, Vermont where he covered politics and environmental issues. As Washington correspondent for The Tennessean in Nashville, he covered presidential campaigns, energy and national security issues.

He was a reporter for the late Jack Anderson, a Pulitzer Prize winning columnist who was targeted for assassination by the Nixon administration during the Watergate era.

I think even the "big boy" trucks, like in the image below, have trouble dealing with THAT much snow. You're left with actual excavators, like from construction sites. There's only a handful of both those kinds of vehicles that can remove this much snow, so progress has become VERY slow.
A larger DPW snowplow truck.

Fun fact: I was at Yawgoog Scout Reservation (camp Sandy Beach!) as Bob roared through. We all got little "segment patches" that were silver-on-black that spelled out "BOB" with the "O" being a hurricane icon. That was a wild day. Less rain than you'd think, but the wind was NUTS.
I found this image on the web - it's not mine - but there's an example of the Hurricane Bob patch in the upper right.
