Will change this once the Rush Roadster parts get added and I'll probably use a board more often anyway but... I'm just excited to have my new main lol

I loooooved getting to draw some wacky expressions in this one This is the kind of stuff I grew up seeing in the Pokemon anime etc so it was great getting to put something similar to paper here (and of course it was a great opportunity to reference the attack from Sonic Riders lol)

Crop of pencils for a comic panel in which Amy Rose is making a highly exaggerated simplified expression as she screams in terror upon seeing a disembodied hand crawling around in the darkness

Comic pencils from a panel in which Amy Rose angrily yells at Miles "Tails" Prower. Amy's head is comically enlarged, resembling one of her attack animations from the original Sonic Riders game

A lot of fun moments in this issue... Amy and Tails have a fun dynamic, Surge's showdown with the Phantom Rider, and of course... The Panel

Pencils from two comic panels featuring Amy Rose and Miles "Tails" Prower sneaking around, with Amy suddenly dragging Tails by the hand

Pencils for two comic panels, featuring Sonic the Hedgehog (in his Phantom Rider disguise) clinging to the front of a bike being ridden by Surge the Tenrec, manic expression on her face. Kitsunami the Fennec follows closely behind

Pencils for a comic panel featuring Surge the Tenrec with a rare expression of simple, genuine joy

These as well, a selection of pencils from issue 70 because I forgot I never reposted them here lol » #SONIC #SONICTHEHEDGEHOG #IDWSONIC #ART #COMICART «

Pencils for a two page comic spread featuring a reveal of a dangerous obstacle course, with spectators cheering in wonder and participants in the race bracing themselves in fear. The Diamond Cutters (Whisper the Wolf, Lanolin the Sheep, Tangle the Lemur, and Duo the Cat), the Babylon Rogues (Jet the Hawk, Wave the Swallow, and Storm the Albatross), Surge the Tenrec, and Kit the Fennec look on.

Pencils for a comic page involving Sonic the Hedgehog in his Phantom Rider disguise ditching Jet the Hawk using smokescreen before being intercepted by the Diamond Cutters and security assigned to the race

Pencils for a comic page featuring the Babylon Rogues at the finish line as Surge and Kit cross it

Pencils for a comic page involving Amy Rose and Miles "Tails" Prower investigating the disembodied hand of Belle the Tinkerer as it points them into the dark

And here's one of my favorite moments from that issue lol

Pencils for two panels from a comic featuring Belle the Tinkerer. Belle suddenly remembers where she'd seen a big red bow before, rendered in a comical "Sketchog" style, before getting grabbed in the face by a large mascot costume hand

some thoughts (riddled with odd mixed metaphors) i posted earlier on the topic of static characters (re: discussions on sonic character writing)

a static character is a deep cavern—the cavern itself doesn't grow or change, but every time you venture deeper into it you discover new elements which make it up

using Lupin as an example, he's never going to be fundamentally changed to the core of his person by any particular adventure and carry that with him into the next one—but on each adventure you get to see a new side of him that hasn't always been explored before

a static character isn't static in the sense that they are a flat, unmoving piece of cardboard that you can see once and move on from, having seen all there is to see
it's in the way you can always come back to them and know there's more to see within the steady unchanging depths

my brain whenever i listen to Live & Learn now

Comic of me listening to Live & Learn by Crush 40, specifically the line "Can you feel life tangle you up inside." The word "Tangle" is featured in its own panel, with the character Tangle the Lemur appearing before I resume listening along
