My broom has never taken me anywhere. It mostly sits in the closet next to the washer. It’s got white, nylon teeth and a green body that’s probably plastic. Flights of fantasy and escape are in a book or while driving, but they don’t last long enough not like a broom should. #Poetry #MicroPoetry

I don’t eat healthily. I like the naughtiest foods most: cheese burgers, pizza, pie, cake (!!!), icy fountain drinks. It’s terrible. It’s wrong. It’s overwhelmingly counter society’s good will: my own tiny rebellion in a sea of cultural purity. Did I mention fried chicken? #Poetry #MicroPoetry

Autumn fog in the parking lot taps the motel room’s windows like fingers on a keyboard. The bed looks suspicious, so I prepare to sleep on the floor and see a Gideon Bible hidden beneath the nightstand while watching out for moving dust-bunnies. It’s pages smell of new ink. #Poetry #MicroPoetry

Sometimes the path through the oak forest clears. I don’t see the twists and turns or roots protruding to catch my feet. I’m suspicious. Where is the fog or the rain or the branches falling from overhead or the bears, monkeys, jaguars, and ex-wives looking for a fight? #Poetry #MicroPoetry.

A mother and a child stand beside the road. She holds a sign and the child drinks from a bottle. Her teddy bear is muddy. Someone stops with some money and a bag of groceries. Most drivers over their eyes. I’m a passenger driving south to the red rocks where autumn sun bakes. #Poetry #MicroPoetry
