Hey 20th Century Fox, for the love of god, get this man some footage….

Tried watching Mandalorian and Grogu and didn’t even make it 30 minutes before I got bored and turned it off.

I have to wait 2 weeks to see The Odyssey but I’ll be seeing it in 70mm IMAX!

If you had bet me that Canada would go further in the World Cup than Germany and the Netherlands I would have told you to kick rocks. We’ve done better than we could have hoped for and even though we’re probably going out on Saturday I’m still so excited! 🇨🇦

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 23/05/2026

I haven’t seen Mandalorian and Grogu but if Red Letter Media is publicly apologizing to the prequels, sequels, and rogue one after watching it, that says more about the movie than any other review could possibly say.

We don’t talk enough about how shitty the Star Wars Disney+ intro is

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 02/03/2026

Genuinely curious, do cinematographers have any input on the framing/lighting of vfx shots like this?

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 25/02/2026

To be fair, Le Tigre is a lot softer. It’s more of a catalog look.

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 28/01/2026

Bugonia better win Best Score. Can’t remember the last time I heard a composer absolutely go for it the way Jerskin Fendrix did. Best score of the 21st century not composed by John Williams or Howard Shore. Full stop.

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 22/01/2026

It’s definitely the Mad Max Fury Road of this year’s list

010

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 22/01/2026

Did anyone have F1 on their Oscar bingo card? As someone who thoroughly enjoyed the movie, one of my favourites of the year, I never once considered it to be an Oscar contender.

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 22/01/2026

This looks great but the fact that Jared Leto is in it means it’s gonna make -$1 Billion somehow

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 09/01/2026

He doesn’t have time to bleed… or mince words, apparently.

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 07/01/2026

Maybe this will mean he’s too busy to write and direct stuff. Everything people praise him for he didn’t do any writing on. His first solo writing credit was in S3 of Rebels. Everything before that was written by writing staff. He’s best when he has someone to push back on him. Just like his mentor.

My film hot take for 2025 is that One Battle After Another would have been better if the Coen Brothers directed it.

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 10/12/2025

Wow, a movie that’s been in theaters for two whole weeks and is dropping on Netflix in 2 days is half sold out on a Wednesday night. But people don’t actually want to go see movies in theaters, do they? Surely not.

A seating chart for a screening of Wake Up Dead Man showing the screening is halfway sold out.

I mean, they have a few things that have been successful but nothing that has hit as widely as ST. I feel like One Piece is still pretty niche despite being well received. They clearly just want to do what Disney did and buy already established IP like DC, GoT, and Harry Potter.

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 08/12/2025

My theory is that Netflix knew everyone was going to cancel their subscriptions as soon as Stranger Things ended because they don’t have anything else going for them and decided to buy Warner Bros. as a Hail Mary play. Ironically, this makes me want to cancel even more.

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 05/12/2025

Am I the only one that misses the days when you you had to wait 6-9 months for a movie to come out on home video? It made me excited to go out and buy/rent it. The anticipation made it feel special again.

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 03/12/2025

Holy shit. Did Paul Dano fuck his wife’s feet or something? Jesus…

010

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 12/11/2025

How did people forget that before Daniel Craig there were 20 bond movies that more or less ignored the events of the previous movie? I think that’s the advantage Bond has over every other franchise. Any Bond film could be someone’s first Bond film and they’d get it.

Had the chance to see GDT’s Frankenstein on 35MM yesterday and it was amazing! If you have a chance to see it in a theatre I highly recommend it. I hope Netflix continues to expand their theatrical distribution because films like this need to be seen in a theatre.

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 28/10/2025

Anyone else hear about Nosferatu for the first time through that SpongeBob episode?

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 21/10/2025

Canadian Walmarts finally got it! So excited!

052

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 29/09/2025

Oh awesome! We don’t always get the exclusives up here so that’s great news!

110

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 28/09/2025

Anyone in the US want to buy this and ship it to Canada for me? Our Walmarts don’t seem to have it. I’m being fully serious.

100

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 24/09/2025

Also, not trying to throw shade because I liked Alien: Earth quite a bit, but why did it take 8 episodes for us to get the first truely cinematic shot of the Alien?

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 24/09/2025

Oohhhhhh, the HUMANS were the real monster all along…

100

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 22/09/2025

I can’t believe how few emotions I felt while watching The Mandalorian & Grogu trailer. I think the biggest reaction I had was “huh, that title design is kinda neat”

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 31/08/2025

Loved Thunderbolts. Can’t wait for the final installment in the “Lewis Pullman Bob Trilogy”

011

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 30/08/2025

About to watch Thunderbolts which will be the first marvel thing I’ve seen since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 29/08/2025

Since we’re fully committed to AI forever now can someone create an AI tool that will properly down mix a 5.1 to a stereo mix giving priority to the dialogue track so I don’t have to constantly ride the damn volume button every time I want to stream a god damn movie?

010

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 15/08/2025

Totally agree. I don’t know why they needed to give it an exact year at all. I might be wrong but I don’t think the year is ever mentioned on screen in Alien. Could have very easily adjusted the timeline without causing any continuity issues.

010

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 15/08/2025

Still not as bad as Blade Runner’s timeline. We were supposed to have human like androids 6 years ago 😂

120

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 11/08/2025

Will I understand what’s going on if I just watch these two? I can’t find 2-7 anywhere.

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

Imagine getting picked up by ICE on the street and the last thing you see before they put the black bag over your head and throw you in an unmarked van is Fat Superman

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 23/07/2025

Ozzy going out only weeks after raising $190 million for charity is one of the most metal things of all time 🤘

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 18/07/2025

I have such a soft spot for all those low budget Star Wars knock offs that came out around that time. This one and Starcrash are definitely my favourites!

010

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 16/07/2025

I thought Genevieve was a sure thing

110

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 16/07/2025

An absolute crime. Her, Elizabeth Dulau, and Genevieve O’Reilly all deserved nominations

220

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 15/07/2025

Elizabeth Dulau was also snubbed.

000

Aaron Dawson @aarondawson.bsky.social · 15/07/2025

Love to see Andor getting so much love at the Emmys. I think Severance is probably gonna clean up but this sends a message Lucasfilm would be stupid to ignore. Also, Genevieve O’Reilly got snubbed hard.
