My gym used me as a photomodel some time ago. To show how open they are to all kinds of people. Including the old and overweight like me. I still gets smiles and giggles every time I see myself appear in my feed.

Occasionally I also dye. Here an experiment where I dyed wool with weld-ekstract in two batches to see how much there was left in the second batch. Result: not much. Process described in next post. #yarn #dyeing #naturaldyeing #weld
Six skeins of wool, dyed various shades of yellow and green. Three skeins of wool. Two dyed yellow, one dyed green. Two shade cards on top of them. Three skeins of wool in two colours. A pale yellow and a pale green. Two shade cards on top of them.

#ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky #BlueKnits #Rowan My most loved blue knit: ‘Sunday Best’ in Rowan yarn’s Denim. It is now 25 years old and has a bit of wear and tear on it. Especially the right cuff since I tend to fold them over. So soon I’ll cut through the frayed bit and knit a new one onto it.

My newest textile tool: a electric ball winder. Now I ‘just need’ that electric skein winder I’ve been looking at. About 3-4 months of saving up for that still necessary. #yarn #ballwinder #Caydo #yarntools

The first part of my Adult Surprise Jackt (from Elizabeth Zimmermanns’s ‘The Opionated Knitter’). Decreases done, now the increase section. Acres of garter stitch in random stripes. D6 for dark, D4 for light. Yarn is some Chinese acrylic from Temu. Decidedly mislabelled as “60%silk” and others. Not!

#KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits #Shawl #MenWhoKnit The shawl pinned out. Approximately 2 m by 1 m. Now to let it dry. Then it gets wrapped up as a birthday present for my SIL. I have 9 colours of that yarn. So I will knit something for myself with the rest, an Adult Surprise Jacket. Should be fun.

#KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits #StephenWest #shawl Glittering Snowscape Shawl by Stephen West knit on 3.5 mm in 5 colours of some Chinese 60% silk, 20% cashmere, 20% wool. Very nice and soft, but splits easily. Also burn tests to a hard molten bead. So probably not as advertised. Now to sew in the ends.

#lace #laceknitting #MenWhoKnit #KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits #shawl Catalina Shawl by Lana Jois in 28/2 cashmere . The first three of seven base repeats. Very nice yarn and very soft, squishy hand in the raw fabric. But all those p1tbl in the twisted rib drive me mad!

My local gym asked me if I wanted to be one of their stories advertising their Bootcamp training. This is the pic they chose. Text says ‘From 3XL to XL, Thomas 58 years - Bootcamp’, which is the shirt sizes I went down since working out there.

#KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits #StephenWest #Shawl Stephen West’s Glittering Snowscapes shawl in green shades. Yarn is some Temu mix they claim to be 60% silk, 20% cashmere and 20% merino. Very soft though, but splits easily. 51 of those stripes at the right, five done.

I got myself two Christmas calendars this year. One with tea from A.C.Perch’s Thehandel here in Denmark. The other filled with 25 samples of spinning fibres from World of Wool in the UK. This yarn is 2ply, as a 3ply it would be thin sock yarn. Still love BFL, new dislike sari silk. Now, how to use?
Five skeins of two-ply yarn. From left to right: Wine-red with blue flashes. Gingerbread brown with coloured specks. Very pale pink. Marled yellow and cherry red giving a pinkish orange. Dark brown with lighter streaks.

#KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits There was a lot of yarn in that gansey. Now starting that lace shawl. ‘Beginner’s Triangle’ by Amy Detjens, pattern is in ‘A Gathering of Lace’ by Meg Swansen, XRX books. Quite forgiving pattern that can be used on many different yarns and needle sizes.

#KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits Finally finished the 1st sleeve on ‘jorn’s gansey’ from Beth-Reinsel’s book ‘knitting ganseys’ I intensely dislike it. So it will be frogged this evening. It will become Amy Detjen’s ‘A Beginner’s Triangle’ instead. You all got any recent knitting failures?

#KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits #Gansey Still working on ‘jorn’s gansey’ from ‘knitting ganseys’. Neck done. It fits ok. But the yarn still has the spinning oil in it so it needs to be washed first before it loses its stiffness and blooms. Now for the sleeves. Even more 2/2-rib …

#knitsky #ShowMeYourKnits #gansey Progress on ‘jorn’s gansey’ from Beth Brown-Reinsel’s ‘knitting ganseys’. Front and back down, shoulder seams closed. Yes, I can get my head through the neck. Yes, it fits. Now to pick up stitches for the neck. Starting to hate 2/2-rib though.

#ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky #Gansey ‘jorn’s gansey’ from Beth Brown-Reinsels ‘knitting ganseys’. Two-ply lambswool. Back done. A simple test fit is OK. The wool still has spinning oil in it and I hope it will bloom, soften, and thicken when it is getting its soak.

Did I mention that I occasionally also dye wool? This is white and grey lambswool 7/2 100 g on each cone. It was dyed using six variants of the Berliner Blau/Turnbull’s blue/Prussian blue process. There are more of the first two variants as I was unsure about the method. #dyeing #yarn #knitsky

@debbietknits.bsky.social DebbieTKnits makes some great cable work. Go look at her posts here. Inspired by that a simple 10 stitch wide strip for a strip-blanket. Edge stitch, k, 2p, 2x2 cable, 2p k, edge stitch. Now, how should I do this? 50” strips width-wise or 60” strips length-wise? #KnitSky

#ShowMeYourKnits #KnitShy #ShetlandLace #Laceknitting 160+ cm or 60+” square! Too large to fit on my guest bed. Which is the largest flat area I currently have for blocking. Good I bought those blocking wires. They save me a lot of pin work. Now the fan to dry it and then sewing ends in tomorrow.

#ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky #ShetlandLace #Shawl The knitting on the Shetland Hap Shawl is done. Now to graft the edging, sew the slits, wash it and block it. I should be able to get that done before deadline. It got bigger and heavier than originally thought … good thing shawls aren’t fitted.

I always do one repeat of the edging outside the shawl so I can get a feel of its flow, how the decreases and increases shape the pattern. Also the last return/even-numbered row in a different coloured yarn, so I can see how to graft it together once I’m all the way around. #knitsky #knit #lace

Ribbit, Ribbit! Sometimes knitting doesn’t work out, time to rip it back, a.k.a frog 🐸 it. Nice lace yarn from World of Wool, BFL/silk/stellina. Lovely hand. Nice pattern, too. But I knit it way too tight on 4 mm needles. It needs 4.5 mm and a more relaxed hand. So, I rip it and start over.
