oh i know a cindy sherman fan when i see one
a scene from office killer (1997). a woman is shown in silhouette, standing in an amber-colored office waiting area. she peers through glass doors, back to the viewer, at an elevator bank.a scene from office killer (1997). a woman is shown from above, head down over an office desk covered in papers. beside her is a woman; only her feet are visible. a scene from office killer (1997). two women stand in the open stairwell of a brown brick office building, dwarfed by the architecture. untitled film still #21 (1978). a black and white self-portrait showing cindy sherman in mid-century office attire. she is shot from slightly below, office buildings looming behind her. her expression is open to interpretation. is she fearful? disgusted? did she just see your bluesky feed. :(

anyway, today i discovered that, when you look up certain animals, you get a preview of they sound like + a little animation:

i am so grateful for david lynch's work–how lucky were we? pretty damn, i think. he altered cinema and television forever. his art taught me how to dream and how to see. it gave me a language. i hope that, wherever he is, he is at peace. i hope there's joy. and i hope there are, finally, robins.
I had a dream. In fact, it was the night I met you. In the dream, there was our world, and the world was dark because there weren't any robins and the robins represented love. And for the longest time, there was just this darkness. And all of a sudden, thousands of robins were set free, and they flew down and brought this blinding light of love. And it seemed like that love would be the only thing that would make any difference. And it did. So, I guess it means there is trouble 'til the robins come.

the biggest tip-off, however, are always the replies. look at how this is written. "as a writer myself." again, realistically, would someone like coetzee do this? would he write like this? would he reach out to people he doesn't know ? it's giving "hello, fellow kids."

the account also shifts between first and third person. again, does this seem like how an actual person, let alone this specific author, would post? why would someone of his caliber need to post like this? he wouldn't and he doesn't.

in this case, the posts focus on one novel, disgrace, over and over. in this post, it's advertised using superfluous hashtags and a sketchy-looking link. most authors will likely not focus on a decades-old work. plus: does this SEEM like how coetzee would post? would he use "must read"? i think not.

what actor's expression in a movie will stay with you for the rest of your life?
mulholland drive's figure behind the diner, played by bonnie aaronsfrom a vulture.com interview: "Did David instruct you to do different expressions on different takes?

Oh, no. He had an idea of what he wanted. David was going over the facial expressions. I did a couple, and he’s sitting there with me, and he says, “No. Nothing like that at all.” And, ya know, David Lynch is really hot, and I’m looking at him all dreamy-eyed, and he says to me, “That’s it: the look, Bonnie!” So I get up and I do it behind the dumpster, and David says, “No, do what you did before.” And I said, “Well, it’s really easy when I do it with you, David.” So guess what? He did it with me. He stuck his head [out], and I came out and looked at him. So when I put out my head, I saw his face." https://www.vulture.com/2014/10/mulholland-drives-evil-hobo-breaks-her-silencio.html

The Snoots are these tiny creatures who have a ritual transition at aged eight at which time they get tinier and they’re sent away for a year so they are protected. The world goes into chaos when the Snoot hero of the story disappears into the carpet and his family can’t find him and he enters a crazy, magnificent world.'"
