aaandanotherthing.bsky.social @aaandanotherthing.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Let me say this: I do not want to hear you crying in stereo about unanswered emails unless you are also crying about teachers who have 20-30 kids (and ~60 parents) in a classroom, all manner of IEPs to oversee, one free period, a 2nd job at TJ Maxx, and their own families to feed w/ inadequate pay. 121

After being inspired by a pretty good first season, I storyboarded my rewrite of S1 of the A Different World reboot to fix the pacing issues. aaandanotherthing.bsky.social @aaandanotherthing.bsky.social · 22/09/2026The thing about that NHJ article is: I'm judging her, the educational system, and white supremacy all at the same time... I contain multitudes. 020
aaandanotherthing.bsky.social @aaandanotherthing.bsky.social · 21/09/2026it also gives the sense that the benefit of school diversity is unidirectional: rich kids benefit poor kids i. some self-sacrificial way but stand to gain nothing from people who are less resourced that they. aaandanotherthing.bsky.social @aaandanotherthing.bsky.social · 21/09/2026but unfortunately NHJ does not push those conversations to their logical endpoint. Instead she gives credence to the narrative that communalism is just useless virtue signaling and that we would all be better off pursuing ruthless individualism and embedding ourselves in integrated (white) spaces. 000
aaandanotherthing.bsky.social @aaandanotherthing.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I‘m very much in the minority but I feel like NHJ’s piece was mypoic, flat, and harmful. There are many conversations we can have about what we owe to those who are in community with, what is gained/lost from our choices, and how neoliberalism/white supremacy undermines a community ethos… 1/2 111
