Exhibit B: Here we have European stocks ranked in the same way as US market. Again you can see outperformance of the top quintile, stacking nicely down to the under performing bottom quintile (red). This time the European index ranks approximately at the mid-quintile (ranks 40-60), not at the top.

Stockopedia: ranks stocks in terms of Quality, Value and Momentum. The top quintile in green (top 20%) should outperform lower ranked ones in a quarterly rebalanced portfolio over time. The US market (exhibit A) shows this to be the case (green at the top (ranks 80-100), red (0-20) at the bottom).

Hate to say it, but this latest parabolic move in the US Gold ETF $GLD looks a bit "sus" to my eye. The price action and volume looks a lot like panic buying.

$MAGS now trading below the August VWAP and -15% from all time highs. Probably why US markets feel worse than -6% fall in $SPY. Would be surprised if we don't get a bounce here at least back to VWAP.

Surprisingly (for me) there was not a great deal of difference whether as a UK investor you held either a Nasdaq100 or a S&P500 tracker for the year either GBP hedged or unhedged. Nasdaq was much more volatile.

FTSE AIM All-share (#AXX.L) vs. FTSE 250 (#MCX.L). Still no bid for risky assets (i.e. AIM stocks) since summer of 2021. Remains a stock pickers market in UK for last 3 years. No wonder the place is quiet! 😂

Likewise I run a simplified version of Simon's QARP screen on Stockopedia. I relaxed some of his criteria to create a bigger net. But some very good companies appear in the list.

When I 1st started investing they did not have Stockopedia. But this is metals & mining stocks ranked from lowest StockRank. Its a sea of red, "sucker stocks" galore for a couple of pages. I think everyone needs to embrace their inner Quant!

I do something very similar (stockopedia download) myself. With universe ranked by volatility adjusted momentum. I am buying near new highs rather than lows though. Screen from 1/7/23. 👇
