Of course Badenoch promises tax cuts. That is the Tory party today. So the 14 years of cuts in spending didn’t convince her that this doesn’t improve the economy - in fact the opposite. But then since 2010 and esp since brexit, Tories aren’t interested in the economy. They are for and by the rich.

When Rough, a depleted North Sea gasfield that provided around 70% of the UK’s gas-storage capacity, was judged uneconomic by its private owner, a Conservative government in 2017 accepted that international markets could provide the UK with adequate energy security. That proved to be a big mistake.

Badenoch giving free childcare to parents earning over £100,000 will strike most as a grotesque gesture. Only 4% make £100,000 or more: they don’t think themselves wealthy, but the other 96% of people do. The £700m cost of that policy should go to the dwindling number of deprived two-year-olds.

Tories now unashamedly pro rich. The economy can go to hell so can the living standards of the majority of us. They waved goodbye to considering the economy from 2010 onwards when Osbourne cut and cut when he didn’t need to heralding austerity and almost certainly securing the leave vote .

Tories, Reform and the right including 80% of our press characterise the left as all being “Rejoiners to the EU” whereas in fact the hard left were and are against the EU. Union leaders and the Corbyn left were at best ambiguous and mostly hostile. That worked out well for the workers of the UK😊
