Started coding aged 12 with AutoIt and VB.NET, their documentation was made for beginners and the road to getting better was clear. HDD died, and with it my passion for programming, all my work was gone. Rust, ngl, first modern language that treats normies well and showed me I could code again.

My main dev machine has been pulling video from an s3 bucket and transcoding it using raw cpu for the past 6 hours, 90% cpu, 31GB ram used of 32, and constant read write from a mechanical drive as I can’t afford an 8TB internal ssd. And you know what? You wouldn’t know it if I hid the window.

There is one very thin silver lining to #tariffs on stuff like steel and aluminium. Demand falls, emissions fall. I know that’s counterbalanced by drilling but if people aren’t buying then materials aren’t being shipped half way across the world, less oil gets burnt.
