I was very fortunate to have my camera at work on this day in 2018. We had the most intense rain storm I have experienced, and, as we waited for the roads to be cleared of downed trees, we got one of the most intense sunsets I have ever seen. #Weather #BlueSkyArtShow #landscape #sunset #eastcoast
Mist rises off of a forest after the rain storm as the clouds clear. The sunset illuminates everything in orange.

Two people, holding umbrellas, walk under a row of Torii gates on a rainy night. The gates are so close together they almost form a red tunnel with lanterns down the side illuminating the scene.

Possibly one of the best #water reflections I’ve captured. This is from a backpacking trip in #greenland #blueskyartshow #landscapephotography
A black and white photo showing a mountain and clouds reflected in a still lake. It’s difficult to tell where the reflection starts.

(3/3) At the end of the day you can say whatever you want, but it strikes me as driven by a world view steeped in American Exceptionalism and not a realistic solution.

(2/3) It’s pretty easy to see how that decision is going to go I think. The other option to cut off Russia would be a naval blockade of Russian ports and a bombing campaign against Russian railways, AKA a declaration of war against a nuclear power.

(1/3) I think you are forgetting the agency of other countries. I don’t think sanctions at this level would be very successful because Russia is a major exporter of food and oil. As a result, most of their export partners would be forced to choose between food/energy security and mostly luxury goods

Yes this photo did involve getting my camera way closer to a spinning lathe than I would have liked. #macro #BlueSkyArtShow #machining

I spent a lot of time driving on this road, and always thought this #curve would make a decent photo. #BlueSkyArtShow #photography #landscapephotography #winter #newengland #snow #artsky

It's hard to resist a foggy, damp night. I would like to thank people for not parking on the street. I think the sparse cars really add to the photo's atmosphere. #night #streetphotography #foggy #artsky #photography

There is a bird in this photo. It's almost like playing Where's Waldo. This photo is almost a little too #busy for me, but I think that makes it perfect for today's #blueskyartshow topic. #nature #photography #artsky #birds
Surrounded by small, yellow flowers, a brown and white bird perches on a branch. The multitude of flowers makes the photo very busy compositionally.

We had some interesting weather on our way up Mt. Baker with roving rainstorms in the morning. I did get some nice clouds out of it though. #landscapephotography #photography #nature #mountains #b&w #pnw

Gen. Guetlein also commented on the CBO report directly today at an industry conference about the program. Nothing all that specific, though he does suggest SBI's would be used for boost and midcourse intercept rather than just boost. breakingdefense.com/2026/05/cbos...

CBO's $1.2 trillion Golden Dome estimate based on bad data: Guetlein - Breaking Defense
Gen. Michael Guetlein, who previously said the project would cost $185 billion, insisted DoD would be able to deploy an "operational system" to defend the entire US homeland by 2028.

$1.2 trillion sounds more realistic. I do wish they covered their assumptions in more detail. Why are SBI’s only capable of boost phase intercepts rather than boost and mid course? What acceleration and delta V did they assume for interceptor performance? Why is a 5 year mission life optimal?

Alright, I did remember. Didn't get very lucky with the ski conditions on Hokkaido (oh no, I have to go back, what a shame), but I did get this nice sunset photo of Mt Yotei. #photography #artsky #landscape #mountains #Japan

Air dominance might be the biggest differentiator. Neither RU or UA have a credible capability, while the US is the world leader. AD allows for airborne jamming (better horizon), better ISR, bombing 1000 targets/day, etc. Basically, neither RU or UA can do full combined arms, but the US might.

It’s important not to burn out. If weekly updates would give you more free time, then do it while you feel you can. You can always go back to a 3 day interval if weekly isn’t working for you.

🧵 @jburnmurdoch.ft.com is spot on about the conditions in his FT piece. Liberal democracy held it together thanks to growth, good demographics, and the promise of a better future. Those days are gone, and that’s the "why" behind the erosion. However...

Most discussions about “misinformation” treat the problem as if people simply don’t have good enough critical-thinking skills. It sounds intuitive, but it’s not entirely accurate. The problem isn’t just individual ignorance, it’s the structure of the information environment people are placed into.

Well this is me. Are people who identify as both asexual and aromantic more likely to be gender apathetic than those who identify as one or the other?

This collage falls into the expressive art category of photography and should be presented as such. Combining the bear photo, a blue hr photo of the ground, and a photo of the aurora, while only having 2 giveaways, takes a lot of work and skill, but it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, certainly not mine

Figured I would use my first post to check the compression on photos. #landscapephotography Took this photo after an ice storm in Western Massachusetts. The hike to the ridgeline involved a lot of crawling under iced over branches in the dark, but it was completely worth it.
Sunrise over a forest after an ice storm. The ice coating the branches is illuminated by the pink morning light as puffy clouds sit over the horizon.
