The general elections are coming up fast. Republicans have money on their side, but our primary wins showed that working people are paying attention.
Excerpt from Washington Sun article in which Maurice Mitchell, national director of the Working Families Party, argues that people don't trust AI, are looking for leadership, and WFP will fill that void.

Politicians from both major parties made big promises to communities about data centers. What people actually got: higher energy bills, massive water use, and more carbon pollution. Working people made their anger clear at the ballot box, with major primary election shakeups.
Washington Sun headline. Progressives plan to capitalize on the AI backlash. The Working Families Party wants to pivot to focusing on AI as the technology becomes a defining issue.

Working class voters don’t trust AI (for good reason). In a recent survey, - 73% worry AI would lead to job losses across the US - 58% believe AI will hurt working class families in the next 5 years - 64% want the government to step in to protect workers if corporations use AI to replace workers
Democrats are missing a huge opportunity to win working-class voters. A new poll shows that these Americans are worried that AI will eliminate their jobs—and they want the government to do something about it

Whether we're up against Republicans bowing to Trump and his billionaire friends, or corporate Democrats selling out working people to please their wealthy donors... Across the country, we're electing leaders up and down the ballot to take back power for the people.
Hello there. We're the Working Families Party, a political third party organizing inside, outside, and on top of the two-party system in the United States. We take on elections from city council to U.S. Senate — wherever there's a path to win, and where winning will advance an agenda that supports everyday working people. Comment 'joinWFP' or visit the link in our bio for ways to get involved and support our movement to build a nation that works for all of us.

AI billionaires are jacking up our energy bills, poisoning our air and water, endangering our kids, and putting people out of work. Now their own researchers are saying that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Post from Jacob Coxon. "I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below."

When the economy crashed in 1893, Pullman cut wages and jobs without lowering rent or prices in the company town. He refused to negotiate with struggling workers, so they went on strike. Rail workers across the country joined in solidarity, threatening the national economy.

At least 10,000 marchers risked their jobs to fight for an 8-hour workday and an end to oppressive working conditions. But the fight didn’t end with a parade. Twelve years later, workers would go from marching in the streets to shutting down railroads across the country.

It’s the late 1800s. The American Industrial Revolution is in full swing. Many people were working 12 hour days, 7 days a week in demanding and dangerous jobs for very little pay. Outrage over these conditions led to a march in New York City in September of 1882.

Oregon voters were so fed up with data centers draining their communities, they did something they almost never do: They broke up with a corporate Democrat to elect educator and activist Myna Muñoz.
MYRNA MUÑOZ defeated an entrenched incumbent to win her primary in one of Oregon’s biggest political upsets in years.

Muñoz was heavily outspent, but to voters, the choice was clear.

Or the corporate Democrat aligned with tech interests and pushing to build more data centers.

In April, the Supreme Court weakened a key part of the Voting Rights Act that protects Black voters from having their political power weakened through redistricting. Now, Republican-led states across the South are redrawing maps to their advantage.
NPR Headline: Southern states rush to draw new Congressional districts after Supreme Court ruling. Article excerpt: "A movement is underway that could alter the political landscape for generations to come in the Deep South. Republican-controlled states are rushing to consolidate GOP power after the Supreme Court further gutted the Voting Rights Act in a case out of Louisiana. Two weeks ago, the court limited how race can be used to draw the borders of congressional districts. Black voters say that their voices are now at stake.
