Alright that concludes my starter tips. But if you don't believe me: My "pro" setup is still just moving blankets (pretty cheap & better than foam btw) inside a shitty closet LMAO. You DON'T need expensive shit to get into VO or be reasonably successful in it. Just focus on you, have fun, & ACT 🎉

030

Tasch 🌿🐺 @taschritter.bsky.social · 30/05/2026

Anyway SERIOUSLY don't buy shit. Mic, classes, etc. - don't until you've been auditioning a WHILE. When you're still finding your footing, you can't take advantage of the class material/equipment properly yet - and that's okay! But save yourself financial burden! VO is the opposite of lucrative lol.

Tasch 🌿🐺 @taschritter.bsky.social · 30/05/2026

Other than that DON'T worry about booth/equipment yet. Genuinely your phone's good enough when JUST starting. Focus on the process/practicing auditioning, the rest will come. Seriously tho: You want to invest in your space BEFORE a fancy mic. Fancy mic = more sensitive. More sensitive = MORE noise.

The places I recommend checking for auditions include: - castingcall.club - voiceactingclub.com (both the forums & discord server) - Hashtags like #CastingCall I'm sure there are more out there, but many resources I used went down with Twitter - so keep an eye out for accounts that RT auditions 👍

So the big secret...is that there is no big secret haha, you literally just start auditioning and get used to the process - very much a learn by doing sort of thing! Everything else advice-wise just boils down to helping make certain steps in that process easier or helping maintain motivation.

Lmao I don't mind at all, go for it!

About 6-8 years? Not all of that time has been *actively* developing, but I went to uni for game design & worked at a studio for 2-3 years before the 2023 layoffs haha. Currently on the day job grind instead, as most are, but I'm still working in games through Casting and Voice Direction!

That said, the biggest thing I've dropped the ball on has been my communications -- If you are a client that hasn't heard from me, expect a reply over the next few days! I'm working through all my DMs and emails this weekend to catch up. Appreciate everyone's patience more than you know 😭💕

Forgive the radio silence y'all, lost my job a couple months ago and had to take a step back from VO (really everything) while trying to sort that out. But good news! Finally back in the computer repair sphere with a MUCH better gig 🙏 So both VO and Grifters are back on the docket 🎉

It means the world if y'all could vote for us in #AudioVerseAwards! 🏆 Both SCP Find Us Alive & Hymns For The Road are big undertakings for a very small "team." Anna actually does ALL writing, direction, audio production, etc. (Only community/script crit is Tabi & I!) Go show Hodgepodge some love! 🎉
