#simonstares I apologize to all for being away for a week. To make up for it here it is a wonderful gift from the chefs @montagebigsky last weekend after my demo. Sourdough bread, with cultured butter and caviar. Very, very nice indeed.

#simonstares at a plate of "Ragu Bolognese" @hermonsla. This restaurant describes itself as a "Neighborhood Restaurant " which is true with all the dishes being fairly standard. But, they are all very well done indeed and if I lived or worked around there they would see me very often.

#simonstares As you may know @lielle.la is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. I may have added to this @maree__la which is, fortunately just above and owned by the same people. This is one of the star dishes "Canard à la Ravigote" - Duck with a Ravigote sauce. Just fantastic stuff.

I still recall where I was. Watching the horrors of September 11th on the reception computer of the small publisher I worked at. May we never forget the workers, the firefighters and other first responders who gave their lives, all the people on the planes and so many others. It changed the world.

#simonstares at a very good Char kway teow @ipoh.kopitiam in Alhambra. It has been far too many years since we went to Malaysia and Singapore where this dish became popular. This along with so many other foods like roti canai and others definitely make us want to return.

One of my favorite dishes to make is this Chicken Korma - a Mogul Imperial dish made with, er, chicken, spices, cream and almond flour. It was originally a dish whose color was very white but different versions since then have emerged. I also like to add turmeric.

If you’re ever in San Diego, check out this fresh fish market. It’s a fun place to visit (and buy fish if you’ve got a place to keep it in ice). They’ve also got a vendor in the back cooking fish dishes.

Me and @tara.monsod at her very good restaurant @animae.sandiego. Which takes Filipino staples such as Kare-Kare & Adobo and adds modernizing element to them. I never say elevate because those dishes a great anyway. The Kare-Kare was the star. One definitely to visit if you are ever in San Diego.

This is the "Star of India" which was originally called "Euterpe" by its founders on the Isle of Man in 1863. It's trip from England to San Diego is a fascinating one. It's trips display the courage of the sailors and their determination to get everywhere in the world.

This picture of my mum and Baba dancing makes me both happy to see them having a great time and sad because I took the picture and turned down the chance of dancing with my mum. This wine is from Georgia. The first bit of the name Qvervi means that is "buried underground" with its wax top open. Its container is a very large amphora containing grapes and the technique is over 8,000 years old, I am told. A fascinating story of our time in Georgia.
