The Roberts Court is not accountable, but it is not untouchable either. This is a marked win for public pressure for compliance with ethical standards at our highest court. It is up to Congress to build on victories like this, and make them permanent through enforceable ethical rules.

Along with twenty other organizations, we sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee urging investigation of Alito's irregular recusal practice and conflicts of interest in this case. Alito pushed back, telling @nbcnews.com that he would not recuse... Only to announce his recusal today.
