ICE and CBP need to be held accountable. After wrapping up this oversight visit at the Macadam ICE facility, it affirmed the lack of due process and the need for accountability. I will keep fighting for our neighbors. Stay loud. Abolish ICE.

I’m conducting oversight at the Macadam ICE facility today. Every individual in this country deserves due process and the right to an attorney. After reports of people not being able to access their lawyer, I’m here for answers. Stay tuned. Stay loud.

Our community is full of young people dedicated to making our country a better place. It was an honor to meet and swear in the Confluence Environmental Center’s newest cohort of AmeriCorps members. I am proud to stand with them and thank them for their dedication to service and our community.

The key to government truly delivering for working families is close local, state and federal partnership. I am grateful to have had time with Mayor Walker of Sandy and Mayor Rios-Campos of Wood Village last week.

High-quality public transportation brings people and communities together. Today, Amtrak introduced new trains connecting riders in Eugene, Oregon, to Vancouver, British Columbia. I look forward to seeing how these new trains provide a more accessible, reliable and comfortable ride for Oregonians.

Fixing our warming planet will take all of us, and harnessing our compassion to move us to act is needed now. Beyond bold policy, we must all look inward at how we can support our communities and make sure we all have equal access to nutritious food.

During Climate Week in NYC, I shared how our pear farmers and growers in Oregon need more support and quicker relief. If we want to keep food suppliers in America, we need to build systems that support our growers and farmers.

Mike is right—we need more investment and research to protect our wildland firefighters. That’s why I introduced a bill to do just that. No firefighter should heroically save our communities and lands without having the best tools and protocols possible to protect them.

Those fighting flames on the front lines deserve all of our support. It was deeply meaningful to me to be surrounded by my colleagues and community members while I introduced my bill to protect wildland firefighters. Now, let's pass my Wildland Firefighter Health and Safety Act into law!

My Wildland Firefighter Health and Safety Act will finally close critical gaps in protecting wildland firefighters. This legislation is built around a simple idea: protecting firefighters' health must be an operational priority, not an afterthought.

Our wildland firefighters put their lives on the line to save us yet, they don’t have proper tools & protections to keep them safe. This bill changes that. My Wildland Firefighter Health & Safety Act will finally help ensure our wildland firefighters have the research & protection they deserve.

Even at a time when vote-by-mail is under attack, Oregon is in excellent hands. At Secretary of State Tobias Read’s Elections Town Hall, I discussed with Gresham leaders and community members all the ways we are working to protect our elections. Voting is a pillar of our democracy.

This week, we lost a hero and trailblazer for equal rights. Gloria Steinem made countless strides in the fight for gender equality and we would not be where we are today without her. She was a true leader, who fought for the right thing no matter the cost or what others said.
