As the 2026 midterms near, the DOJ's actions are part of a larger effort to deceive the public with false election claims. This ruling demonstrates how federal courts can serve as an important check on the Trump admin’s authority.

The image features a quote on election security over a dark blue background. The text reads: "If the federal government were genuinely concerned about election security, it would not even consider compiling sensitive voter records in a massive centralized database with so little regard for the risks. Today’s ruling is a win for voters, a win for national security, and a win for free and fair elections." Below the quote, it attributes the statement to Jane Bentrott, labeled as counsel.

"Paid for by the U.S. Government"? By siphoning funds from agency budgets meant for border security and fallen officer memorials, the Trump admin is trying to build a massive propaganda apparatus ahead of the midterms. We're not buying it, Tova Kaplan explains: protdem.org/4hmADq8

It’s possible, though, that these ads could be meant for something broader than just driving support to Republicans. In the event of a win for the opposition in the 2026 midterms, the Trump administration might use these ads to question the results themselves. Trump could place ads, with the seeming endorsement “Paid for by the U.S. Government,” on news stations and broadcast shows to advance false claims about the election.
