Laila dedicated her life to standing up for human rights in Egypt and her son became a leading figure in the 2011 uprising. He was locked up in 2019 over a Facebook post that alleged human rights abuses in the country’s jails. That sentence ended on September 29 last year, but he wasn't released.

Ahead of a big night out, the last words Nicki said to Luke were ‘don’t drink and drive.’ Worried about losing his phone and wallet, he left them at a friend’s house before they all took a taxi to a nightclub in Ipswich. When he was separated from his friends, he was alone without any money.
